Overview
\nDo you believe children learn best when they’re outside, hands in the dirt, exploring the world around them? We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Certified Lead Teacher to join our nature-based early childhood program. In this role, you’ll lead a classroom where the outdoors is the curriculum \u2014 guiding young children to connect with, care for, and appreciate the natural world while building the social-emotional foundations they’ll carry for life.<\/p>\n
What you’ll do<\/p>\n
Curriculum & learning
\nPlan and lead engaging, hands-on nature-based activities – art, music, motor skills, and outdoor exploration. Document children’s growth to inform bi-yearly progress reports and family conferences. Support and review reports drafted by co-teachers.<\/p>\n
Team leadership & mentorship
\nMentor and support co-teachers, interns, and volunteers. Foster a culture of continued professional growth. Provide coverage across classes or sites as needed to support staffing ratios.<\/p>\n
Family engagement
\nBuild warm, ongoing relationships with families through in-person communication, email, a monthly newsletter, and the ProCare app. Orient new enrollees and participate in parent-teacher conferences.<\/p>\n
Safety & compliance
\nConduct daily environmental safety checks, name-to-face checks at every transition, and monthly fire drills. Maintain EEC-required certifications and documentation, and uphold all health, safety, and supervision standards (CMR 606).<\/p>\n
Schedule & Benefits
\nThis is a part-time salaried position scheduled for approximately 22-24 hours per week. Teaching hours are Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM\u201312:00 PM, with additional paid prep time built into the schedule each week.<\/p>\n
The school calendar includes paid holidays and seasonal breaks that closely align with local public school calendars, including major vacation weeks and observed holidays.<\/p>\n

Physical requirements
\nThis role involves frequent bending, squatting, walking on trails, and lifting\/carrying up to 50 lbs. You’ll work outdoors in varied weather conditions on uneven terrain \u2014 and love it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Founded in 1991, HSTF now engages close to 400 youth ages 6\u201325 in college and career preparation, Afro-Latin arts and cultural enrichment, and community-building initiatives. In doing so, we ensure that youth have the arts and educational opportunities they need and deserve in order to be successful and that their voices and cultures are valued and celebrated in Boston\u2019s Latin Quarter and beyond. Our work is guided by our mission: to nurture and amplify the voices, creativity, and power of youth by grounding them in Afro-Latin culture so they can advance justice in their communities.<\/p>\n Position: The Education Success Associate is a contracted, part-time position (up to 10 hours per week from September 7, 2026 through June 17, 2027) that reports directly to the Education Programs Manager and must work primarily on-site while educational programming is in session. We anticipate hiring two Education Success Associates for the 2026 – 2027 program year. The anticipated schedule for the 2026 – 2027 program year is as follows:<\/p>\n Required weekly schedule:<\/p>\n Job Summary: Through a combination of direct service with young people and behind-the-scenes support, Education Success Associates help youth feel connected to HSTF, excited to learn about Afro-Latin culture, and prepared to succeed academically and to plan for life beyond high school. Working alongside Education Team members, the Education Success Associates develop strong relationships with youths in grades 8-12, support education workshops, and help monitor youths\u2019 academic progress. In addition, the Education Success Associates oversee the day-to-day logistics of our tutoring program for 8 – 12th grade students, and create and maintain resources for participants in HSTF\u2019s Caminos: College & Career Pathways program.<\/p>\n Primary Responsibilities:<\/p>\n Qualifications: We\u2019re seeking candidates who are enthusiastic about working with people, excel in building and maintaining positive relationships with youth and adults, and attend to details so that programs run smoothly and in service of our mission and values.<\/p>\n Experience:<\/p>\n Skills:<\/p>\n Other:<\/p>\n Pay Rate: Hourly wage of $18 – $22 an hour.
