In this Master of Education (EdM) in Special Education program, you&#8217;ll be equipped for effective instruction, intentional collaboration, proactive advocacy, and reflective practice as an educator.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">Choose from multiple tracks and learning experiences to receive preparation best aligned to your personal and professional goals. The master&#8217;s in special education includes structured tracks that lead to Massachusetts teaching licensure as well as more flexible and customizable non-licensure program options.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-dark-color has-text-color\">Program Pathways <\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3>General track, non-licensure <\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In the non-licensure track of the EdM in Special Education, you&#8217;ll complete a series of core special education coursework and develop a program of study customized to their professional interests and goals alongside a faculty advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3>Licensure track<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">The licensure-granting tracks of the EdM in Special Education are for students seeking an initial teaching license in the state of Massachusetts, including those who already hold an initial license in elementary education or in secondary content areas and are looking to add-on a special education teaching license. The special education master&#8217;s licensure-granting tracks include:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Licensure, moderate disabilities, PreK\u20132, PreK\u20138, or 5\u201312<\/li><li>Licensure, severe disabilities, PreK\u20132 or all levels<\/li><li>DESE endorsement, autism spectrum disorder<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4>Gain meaningful field experiences<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"is-style-default\">For students in the licensure-granting tracks, the master&#8217;s (EdM) in special education offers opportunities for field placements. You&#8217;ll complete scaffolded fieldwork in diverse school and instructional contexts within the greater Boston area. These experiences culminate in a term-long student teaching experience. Her current work is focused on identifying potential interventions to improve working conditions to eliminate these inequities.
