In the non-licensure track of the EdM in Special Education, you’ll complete a series of core special education coursework and develop a program of study customized to their professional interests and goals alongside a faculty advisor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The licensure-granting tracks of the EdM in Special Education are for students seeking an initial teaching license in the state of Massachusetts, including those who already hold an initial license in elementary education or in secondary content areas and are looking to add-on a special education teaching license. For students in the licensure-granting tracks, the master’s (EdM) in special education offers opportunities for field placements. You’ll complete scaffolded fieldwork in diverse school and instructional contexts within the greater Boston area. These experiences culminate in a term-long student teaching experience. All field placements are supervised by BU Wheelock Special Education faculty and program supervisors, who work in partnership with carefully selected supervising practitioners in a variety of instructional settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
