The MAT in English Education for Equity &amp; Justice will prepare you for initial teacher licensure in English for grades 5\u201312.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the MAT program, you\u2019ll learn about lesson design, critical literacy, instructional delivery, and evidence-based and humanizing methods for teaching literature, reading, writing, and language. Students complete their pre-practicum work at our partner Boston Public Schools site and are placed for their full practicum based on individual needs and goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column promo-block\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/about\/offices-services\/professionalpreparation\/\">Licensure<\/a><\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p>Students in the MAT in English Education for Equity &amp; Justice also have the option to add a license through the Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Program. Most field sites require criminal background checks to determine students\u2019 eligibility for participation.
