Whether you are an aspiring educator or an advancing world language educator or leader, this master&#8217;s program is open to educators of any modern language, and offers the option to pursue initial teaching licensure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-dark-color has-text-color\">Program Pathways and Field Experiences<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The EdM in World Language Education can be completed fully online or in person. You have the option to enroll in this program either full- or part-time. As a student in the master&#8217;s (EdM) in World Language Education, you&#8217;ll advance your abilities through field-based experiences that will give you valuable hands-on work in a classroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\t<div\n\t\tclass=\"wp-block-bu-collapsible js-wp-block-bu-collapsible is-open icon-style-plus-minus is-style-plain\"\n\t\tstyle=\"\"\n\t\tid=\"bu-collapsible-id-non-licensure-pathways\"\n\t\tdata-default-open=\"false\"\n\t>\n\t\t<h3 class=\"bu-collapsible-heading\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"bu-block-collapsible-toggle js-bu-block-collapsible-toggle\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-non-licensure-pathways-toggle\">\n\t\t\t\t\tNon-Licensure Pathways\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"bu-block-collapsible-content js-bu-block-collapsible-content\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-non-licensure-pathways-panel\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p>World language instructors who already hold licensure can use this world language education master&#8217;s to expand their pedagogical expertise and become curricular leaders. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Educators who hope to teach in settings where licensure is not required (adult, international, or private school settings) can also be prepared as classroom teachers. <\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n\n\t<div\n\t\tclass=\"wp-block-bu-collapsible js-wp-block-bu-collapsible is-open icon-style-plus-minus is-style-plain\"\n\t\tstyle=\"\"\n\t\tid=\"bu-collapsible-id-licensure-pathways\"\n\t\tdata-default-open=\"false\"\n\t>\n\t\t<h3 class=\"bu-collapsible-heading\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"bu-block-collapsible-toggle js-bu-block-collapsible-toggle\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-licensure-pathways-toggle\">\n\t\t\t\t\tLicensure Pathways\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"bu-block-collapsible-content js-bu-block-collapsible-content\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-licensure-pathways-panel\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p>Aspiring educators preparing to teach in public schools may pursue initial teaching license in one of nine languages (Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, or Spanish) at either the preK\u2013grade 6 or grade 5\u201312 levels. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EdM in World Language Education offers the option to pursue dual licensure for the same language at two levels or in two different languages. <\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\t\n\n\n\t<div\n\t\tclass=\"wp-block-bu-collapsible js-wp-block-bu-collapsible is-open icon-style-plus-minus is-style-plain\"\n\t\tstyle=\"\"\n\t\tid=\"bu-collapsible-id-add-on-pathways-in-esltesol\"\n\t\tdata-default-open=\"false\"\n\t>\n\t\t<h3 class=\"bu-collapsible-heading\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<button class=\"bu-block-collapsible-toggle js-bu-block-collapsible-toggle\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-add-on-pathways-in-esltesol-toggle\">\n\t\t\t\t\tAdd-On Pathways in ESL\/TESOL\t\t\t\t<\/button>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"bu-block-collapsible-content js-bu-block-collapsible-content\" id=\"bu-collapsible-id-add-on-pathways-in-esltesol-panel\">\n\t\t\t\n\n<p>Students in the EdM in World Language Education have the option to pursue a graduate certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages). Through this pathway, licensure-seeking students also meet requirements for an initial license in English as a Second Language (ESL) (PreK\u20136 or 5\u201312) in Massachusetts. They will complete the program with a portfolio that demonstrates their understanding of effective world language teaching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full-time students seeking licensure will engage in a year-long supervised field placement.
