He studies the relationship between social policies and students\u2019 academic, cognitive, and social development. He also has extensive experience collaborating with school systems, state agencies, and foundations to develop strategies and improve support for students. Her research focuses on early childhood policy topics, such as access to early education and care, the transition to kindergarten, and collaborations between early education and K\u201312. Before joining BU, she taught social studies, English as a Second Language, and Japanese. Before coming to BU Wheelock, Payir was a postdoctoral research scientist at Columbia University\u2019s psychology department.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Louise Michelle Vital<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3><em>Senior lecturer, Higher Education Administration<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft\"><img src=\"\/wheelock\/files\/2023\/09\/Headshot-Louise-Michelle-Vital-PhD-Louise-Michelle-Vital-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Headshot of Louise Michelle Vital\" class=\"wp-image-66538\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>A senior lecturer in the Higher Education Administration program, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/louise-michelle-vital\/\">Michelle Vital<\/a> centers her&nbsp; research on systemic inequalities in higher education, Haiti and other Caribbean countries, critical reflexive practice in academia, and the preparation of scholars and practitioners. Throughout her work, she examines the impact of deep-seated inequalities of power and privilege on students\u2019 experiences.
