He is a seasoned psychologist with years of experience supervising clinicians, practicing psychotherapy, conducting play therapy sessions, and conducting evaluations.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI am excited to be working with this talented and dedicated group of individuals as we foster our students to reach their full potential and be the catalyst for meaningful change in their communities and the broader world,\u201d says Bui.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Lindsey Chapman<\/strong><br><em>Lecturer, Special Education<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img src=\"\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/09\/headshot-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Lindsey Chapman\" class=\"wp-image-60733\"\/><figcaption>Lindsey Chapman<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/lindsey-chapman\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/lindsey-chapman\/\">Lindsey Chapman<\/a>\u2019s work focuses on inclusive pedagogy and preparation for teachers. She\u2019s developed graduate and undergraduate courses on a variety of topics, including Universal Design for Learning, social perspectives of disability, and family and community partnerships. He also supports teachers in using equitable, social-justice-oriented mathematics education practices in the classroom. Cordero-Siy is a former high school mathematics teacher who has taught in New York, Georgia, and the Philippines.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to work at Wheelock because we\u2019re provided the opportunity to reflect and take action to face systems that have shut many of us out and liberate ourselves from the mindsets that tell us we can\u2019t,\u201d says Cordero-Siy.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Maria Teresa Coutinho<\/strong><br><em>Clinical Associate Professor, Counseling Psychology&nbsp;<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img src=\"\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/09\/Coutinho-Maria-Coutinho-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Photo of Maria Teresa Coutinho\" class=\"wp-image-60660\"\/><figcaption>Maria Teresa Coutinho<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/maria-teresa-coutinho\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/maria-teresa-coutinho\/\">Maria Teresa Coutinho<\/a> researches the cultural, social, and healthcare system factors that influence healthcare utilization by urban children of color, including healthcare utilization among Black children with asthma and their families and the transition to adult healthcare among urban adolescents of color with asthma diagnoses. Before working at BU Wheelock, Gonzalez was the award-winning principal of the Laboratory School of Finance and Technology in New York City. He founded two public schools and mentored over 100 aspiring leaders to school leadership positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Michael Medina<\/strong><br><em>Assistant Professor, Applied Human Development<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img src=\"\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/09\/IMG_6941-Michael-Medina-150x150.jpeg\" alt=\"Photo of Michael Medina \" class=\"wp-image-60506\"\/><figcaption>Michael Medina<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/michael-a-medina\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/profile\/michael-medina\/\">Michael Medina<\/a>\u2019s research focuses on racial and ethnic identity development: that is, young people\u2019s beliefs about their cultural backgrounds, interpersonal and sociocultural influences on their beliefs, and the challenges that youth face when encountering a racialized school system. Before joining BU Wheelock, Medina was a postdoctoral scholar in the Human Ecology department at the University of California, Davis.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWorking at BU Wheelock is the opportunity I\u2019ve been hoping for. The community is incredibly supportive and welcoming,\u201d Medina says. \u201cI have the resources and opportunity to pursue my research agenda of choice. The climate is mindful of issues of diversity, equity, and justice. I feel like this is the place where educators can really make an impact.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Ashley R. Moore<\/strong><br><em>Assistant Professor, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL)<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image is-style-rounded\"><figure class=\"alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" src=\"\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/08\/Ashley-Russell-Moore-head-shot-1-150x150.jpg\" alt=\"Ashley Russell Moore head shot\" class=\"wp-image-60363\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/08\/Ashley-Russell-Moore-head-shot-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/wheelock\/files\/2022\/08\/Ashley-Russell-Moore-head-shot-1-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/><figcaption>Ashley R. Moore<\/a> is a critical applied linguist whose research focuses on two primary topics: queer-inclusive and queer-affirming language education, and the concept of linguistic dissociation, which he describes as a \u201cpsychosocial process through which an individual or group distances themselves from certain linguistic resources within their existing repertoires because those resources have come to connote intersubjective disharmony.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m excited to be part of a community that shares the values that I bring to teaching and research. In conversation with my new colleagues during the faculty retreat, we discovered that we all place the learner at the center of our work, focusing on their existing strengths,\u201d says Moore. \u201cWe then interrogate the deficits in the systems that might be preventing them from making full use of those strengths.
