Dr. Jay Halfond, professor of the practice teaching at Metropolitan College and Wheelock and Faculty Advisor for BU Wheelock’s online Higher Education Master’s program, shares the second in a series of conversations with experts in the field of higher education. His guest for this second conversation is Laura De Veau. Ms. De Veau is currently Principal and Founder of Fortify Associates, LLC. Most recently, she was Vice President of Student Affairs at Mount Ida College.
In this conversation, Ms. De Veau discusses her evolution from her Boston University undergraduate experiences, to working in Residential Life at BU, Babson College, Endicott College, and Mount Ida College, where she ultimately became Vice President of Student Affairs. She shares with Dr. Halfond the benefits of beginning a higher education career in Residential Life as well as the importance of separating yourself from your work, especially when living on a college campus as a staff member.
