Dr. Jay Halfond, professor of the practice teaching at Metropolitan College and Wheelock and Faculty Advisor for BU Wheelock’s online Higher Education Master’s program, shares the third in a series of conversations with experts in the field of higher education. His guest for this third conversation is Dr. Jerry Whitmore, Jr. Dr. Whitmore is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration at BU Wheelock.
In this conversation, Dr. Whitmore shares his experience as a first-generation college student and the importance of mentorship along with how ended up teaching at the university level and mentoring students of his own. Dr. Whitmore emphasizes the importance of implementing metrics to track student’s co-curricular activities and the way it correlates with their academic success as well as emphasizing that correlation to other members of universities at-large.
