SED Welcomes Dr. Marcus A. Winters
Dr. Marcus A. Winters will join the Boston University School of Education faculty beginning in the fall of 2016 as an associate professor in leadership and policy studies.
Dr. Winters completed his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Arkansas in 2008. His research focuses on measuring the impacts of education policies, with an emphasis on school choice, accountability, and policies that impact teacher quality. His research has been published in a variety of top journals for the study of educational policy including Journal of Policy Analysis and Management, Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, Educational Researcher, and Education Finance and Policy. Dr. Winters is currently a member of the editorial board for Educational Evaluation and Policy Analysis, which is AERA’s flagship policy journal.
Dr. Winters focuses on producing rigorous research that provides both the academic literature and the policymaking community with timely answers to questions of substantial policy importance. His research is often cited and he is frequently quoted in the press. He has written numerous articles for popular outlets including the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and New York Daily News.
