Profiles

The MarCom office builds and updates website profile pages for all faculty, staff, and doctoral students at BU Wheelock. All bios may be edited for the following reasons: typographical and editorial errors; length; and consistency with the style for the new website. We will contact you with any questions or if significant editorial changes are needed.

1. New profiles

If you’re a new member of our community, please take a moment and send us your profile details via the New Website Profile Submission form. Your profile will not appear in the BU Wheelock Directory until you fill out this form.

For guidelines for writing your bio, visit Tips for Writing Your Bio.

2. Existing profiles

If you need to submit changes to an existing profile, follow these steps:

    • Copy and paste your existing profile into a Word document
    • Using tracked changes, make any changes
    • Submit your changes using the MarCom Contact form

Update a Webpage or Report a Correction

If you spot a typo or if your page needs an update, please let us know.

The amount of time an update will take will vary depending on the complexity or the amount of content. In general, please allow the following:

  • For simple updates to existing content: up to 5 business days
  • For more complex updates, including overhauling a page or section: up to 2 weeks
  • To create a new webpage or add a section: 4-6 weeks
  • Once we’ve taken a look at your request, we may set up a meeting with you before setting the timeline.

Academic Programs

Marketing and recruitment for BU Wheelock academic programs is shared between BU Admissions, BU Wheelock Graduate Admissions, and BU Wheelock MarCom. Once your new course or program is approved and added to the BU Bulletin, we can help you promote it to the wider BU community and beyond through our website and other channels.

To add or update a program on the BU Wheelock website, submit a request using the MarCom contact form. Note: New programs or program changes must have received University approval and be included in the BU Bulletin before they can be added/updated on the BU Wheelock website.

Request a Website

Although BU Wheelock MarCom does not develop, maintain, or update websites created by centers/institutes, programs, faculty, or staff, we do encourage you to reach out to us to talk over guidelines and answer any preliminary questions.

BU Wheelock MarCom encourages all faculty and staff creating Boston University/BU Wheelock-affiliated websites to work with BU Creative Services and BU IS&T to ensure that your website is in alignment with BU standards and eligible for University support should any problems arise in the future. Websites that are created in platforms other that WordPress may not receive tech support from Boston University.

Design and development

University brand

Boston University requires center/institute/program websites follow University branding guidelines, and BU Marketing & Communications will reach out to centers/institutes if it determines that a website is not in compliance.

Please review the BU Brand Guidelines and the Boston University Editorial Style Guide, and share these documents with any person who is working on design and/or development of your new website. A good example of a website that is in compliance with brand standards is the CEID website.
