Various supports for teaching are available to new faculty, as well as those with less teaching experience.
Center for Teaching & Learning
Boston University provides support for all faculty members through the Center for Teaching & Learning (CTL). Their frequent workshops, presentations, and conferences provide exposure to successful and innovative teaching tools and approaches. Junior Faculty Mentoring Group
New faculty participate for two years in the Junior Faculty Mentoring Group. This group meets monthly and is led by the associate dean for faculty affairs, who coordinates with senior faculty. The group covers research, teaching, and service topics.
Junior Faculty Teaching Observation
During the first two years after joining BU Wheelock, junior faculty members may be observed in their teaching in a process that responds to their teaching goals and purposes, while giving useful feedback on a particular lesson.
