BU Wheelock Reads 2026

Join BU Wheelock for an inspiring evening celebrating children’s literature with acclaimed author-illustrators Grace Lin and Raúl the Third. Both creators will share insights into their creative journeys, discussing how their backgrounds, experiences, and artistic processes shape the stories they bring to life for young readers.

Gain a behind-the-scenes look at how picture books and middle-grade novels are developed. Whether you are an educator, student, aspiring writer or illustrator, or just a lover of children’s books, this event offers a meaningful chance to connect with two special voices in the field.

Featuring:

Grace Lin, best-selling author of numerous picture books, board books, early readers, and middle-grade books. Her newest middle-grade novel, "The Gate, the Girl, and the Dragon," debuted at #2 on the NY Times Bestseller List. She lives in Northampton, Mass.

Raúl the Third is an author and illustrator of several children's books, including Vamos! Let’s Cross the Bridge and Lowriders in Space. He is a New York Times best selling author and three-time Pura Belpre award-winning illustrator, author, and artist. He lives in the Boston area.

Those who register for the event will receive a copy of a book by Grace Lin or Raúl the Third (limit one per registered attendee).

The presentation will be followed by book signings and refreshments.
