In Memoriam: Evelyn Ford-Connors
BU Wheelock announces the passing of Dr. Evelyn Ford-Connors, a longtime faculty member who was part of the Literacy Education program for many years, including serving as director of the program. She also directed the Donald D. Durrell Reading and Writing Clinic (now the Literacy Collaborative).

Dr. Ford-Connors, whose research focused on classroom discourse and literacy instruction, is remembered for her tireless commitment to her work, her students, and her colleagues. She was known for her dedication to making sure that her students were developing the skills they needed for teaching and that the K–12 students they worked with were developing their literacy practices.
“Evelyn helped develop and maintain a vibrant community of which we’re all a part. She was always available to listen and to share advice with others, whether they were students or faculty,” said a statement from the BU Wheelock Literacy Education Program.
“Evelyn was truly a remarkable colleague,” said Jeanne Paratore, professor emerita of literacy education. “The depth of her caring for others was seemingly endless.”
All are welcome to celebrate the life of Evelyn Ford-Connors. Visiting hours will be on February 7 and a church service will take place in Concord, Massachusetts, on February 8. Learn more.
