Sponsoring a Visiting Researcher

To begin the visiting researcher program process, you first must fill out the form below. The purpose of this form is to evaluate the candidate’s information and area(s) of research to determine if the request is compatible with the BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development’s mission and research. Please fill out the form in its entirety for your request to be considered. This information will be passed along to the Dean’s Office to complete the appointment letter and approve your request.

Once approved, the Associate Deans’ Administrator will act as the liaison and assist the visitor with their J-1 visa process. A minimum of three months (90 days) before the arrival date is required to process the visa application paperwork. Faculty sponsors must also interview and provide evidence of the visitor’s English language proficiency submitted with the visa paperwork. Wheelock does not provide funding, housing, or office space for visiting researchers.

A complete outline of the ISSO application process can be found on their website.
