Dr. Christopher Martell Appointed to The Educational Forum’s Editorial Board and Review Panel

SEDFACULTYDr. Christopher Martell, Clinical Assistant Professor and Program Director of Social Studies Education at SED, was recently appointed to serve on the Editorial Board and Review Panel for The Educational Forum, a peer-reviewed journal of scholarly research that focuses on “compelling findings and thought-provoking perspectives.”

The journal is published quarterly by Kappa Delta Pi, which is the International Honor Society in Education founded in 1911.

“I am incredibly honored to be part of such a distinguished educational journal with a long history of presenting scholarship that advances the field,” Dr. Martell said.

The Educational Forum has had recent special issues dedicated to racial inequality in education, teacher research, and the politics of teacher education, as well as featured cutting-edge articles from such notable scholars as James Banks, Henry Giroux, Marilyn Cochran-Smith, David Berliner, Ann Lieberman, Andy Hargreaves, among others.

Dr. Martell joins colleagues on the Editorial Board and Review Panel from schools and colleges of education from across the United States and the world. As a researcher who has previously published in The Educational Forum, he understands the journal’s strong sense of scope and mission and looks forward to offering new perspectives and ideas that inform the journal’s editors.

“I hope my research background will be an asset for the journal to advocate for a better understanding of how social inequity persists and can be dismantled in our schools and communities,” he said. “I also hope to add my expertise in social studies education to the Editorial Board and Review Panel, as it is a content area that needs a renewed focus in our schools.”

This is Dr. Martell’s first appointment to an editorial board and review panel.
