Costs & Tuition

For full-time status, you must be enrolled in 12 to 18 credits per semester. You’ll be charged a standard tuition rate as a full-time student.

Below is the University’s estimated cost of attendance. The budget represents average nine-month costs and a standard personal living allowance for a full-time graduate student with no dependents.

Please note: All full-time students must enroll in one of the University’s medical insurance plans unless proof of other comparable health insurance is provided. This rate is for the 2024-2025 BU Student Basic plan.

Course overload: If you take more than 18 credits (2024–2025), you will incur an additional, nonnegotiable charge per credit.

For part-time status, you must be enrolled in fewer than 12 credits. All students studying during the summer semester are considered part-time students and pay per credit regardless of the total credit number. All students enrolled in online study at BU Wheelock also study part-time, taking fewer than 12 credits per semester.
