Learning Support & Tutoring

Educational Resource Center

In addition to subject-matter tutoring, the Educational Resource Center also offers resources for academic strategies for students looking to improve their study skills, time management skills, and helpful tips for remote learning.

Writing

Students seeking writing assistance are advised to check with the ERC. The College of Communication Writing Center also offers its support to students across the university, regardless of college affiliation.

Math

Students who would like support with math coursework can consult the Math Tutoring Room, Math Help!, or the ERC’s Discipline-specific Guides.

MTEL Prep

The BU Wheelock Professional Preparation Office (PPO) is the best resource for students looking for MTEL prep help.

Smarthinking

Smarthinking is a fully online tutoring resource available to students enrolled in online courses.* Their supports include tutorial guides and time with real, live tutors that students can meet with via scheduled or drop-in appointments. To get started,  check out the Quick Start Guide.

*Smarthinking is available to students enrolled in online courses, not courses adapted for remote learning due to 2020 Learn from Anywhere blended modality. In general, online courses are those whose section number begins with the letter O. For example: SED RS600 O1 vs SED RS600 A1. Please contact Student Services if you have questions about your eligibility for access.
