Her research and teaching interests include forced displacement and migration, modernist literature, performance, and dance, and critical studies of race, sexuality, and gender. Her book,\u00a0<i><a href=\"http:\/\/sites.bu.edu\/learningtokneel\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Learning to Kneel: Noh, Modernism, and Journeys in Teaching<\/a>,<\/i>\u00a0was published by Columbia University Press in 2016, and her new book\u00a0<i>Complicit Participation: The Liberal Audience for Anti-racist Theater\u00a0<\/i>is forthcoming from Oxford University Press.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>She\u00a0has won several BU awards, including a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/provost\/awards-publications\/award-opportunities\/career-development-professorships\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"2\">Peter Paul Career Development Professorship<\/a>, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/about\/faculty\/faculty-accolades\/endowed-college-teaching-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"3\">CAS Wisneski Award for Excellence in Teaching<\/a>, and the University\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/today\/2015\/carrie-preston-united-methodist-scholar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"4\">United Methodist Scholar\/Teacher of the Year Award<\/a>.
