As it is general in nature, you should always discuss your specific situation with an associate director before finalizing a withdrawal.\n\n<strong>Academic Advising<\/strong>\nNotify your <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/registration\/contact-info\/\">academic advisor<\/a> of your intention to withdraw. Be sure you have gathered any necessary information about the courses you\u2019ve taken (description, syllabus, etc) to facilitate transferring of credits.\n\n<strong>Academic Transcript<\/strong>\nThe notation \"discontinued\" will be listed on your transcript, along with the effective date.\n\n<strong>Class Registration<\/strong>\nWhen your withdrawal request is approved and updated, your course registration will be cancelled for the upcoming term and your name removed from class lists.\n\n<strong>Financial Implications \/ Tuition Cancellation Schedule<\/strong>\nSemester tuition and fees are adjusted based on the effective date of the withdrawal, in accordance with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/studentaccountingservices\/resources\/withdrawal-and-tuition-refund-schedule\/\">published tuition refund schedule<\/a>.\u00a0 This schedule\u00a0provides for the full cancellation of tuition and fees for students who withdraw prior to the first day of the semester, so please work with the USC early to confirm your plans and update your records.\u00a0\u00a0If your plans aren't definite as the start of the semester approaches, or if you\u00a0are considering\u00a0a permanent withdrawal once the semester has started, please contact the USC associate directors (617-358-1818; <a href=\"mailto:usc@bu.edu\">usc@bu.edu<\/a>) to discuss best next steps.\n\n<strong>International Students \/ Visa Status<\/strong>\nInternational students on a student visa may not remain in the U.S. following withdrawal. Please discuss your plans with your assigned advisor in the <a href=\"isso@bu.edu\">International Students and Scholars Office<\/a>.\n\n<strong>On-campus Housing<\/strong>\nYour on-campus housing assignment will be cancelled and the space reassigned. Please reference BU Housing's <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/assignments\/withdrawalsandloas\/\">Withdrawals and Leave of Absence policy<\/a> and speak with a USC associate director if you have questions about your specific situation.\u00a0 Residence and dining charges are adjusted in accordance with the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/assignments\/process\/agreement\/\">Terms and Conditions of the\u00a0Residence License Agreement<\/a>.\n\n<strong>Financial Aid<\/strong>\nNeed-based financial aid, loans, and BU scholarships will be cancelled. Any award offered by a private donor will be adjusted according to the terms stipulated by the donor.\n\n<strong>Student Account\/Billing<\/strong>\nAllow two to three business days for account adjustments to be reflected in your online invoice; adjustment of financial aid funds may take up to thirty days. If these adjustments result in a credit balance (over-payment) on your account, the credit may be refunded upon your request to <a href=\"mailto:studenta@bu.edu\">Student Accounts<\/a>.\n\n<strong>Loan Deferment\/Repayment<\/strong>\nStudent and parent educational loans will go into repayment status when you are no longer enrolled.
