Students are required, by University policy<\/a>, to complete a medical review when returning from a medical leave of absence and in other circumstances relating to their health and academic enrollment.<\/span> \u00a0The medical review process may be required as a condition of, or contingency to, an exception to University policy–for example as part of approval for late course withdrawals, or when considering a request for re-enrollment after unapproved time away, gaps in enrollment, or possible return from suspension, dismissal, or withdrawal.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Start Your Medical Review Process with Student Health Services<\/h4>\n

The medical review process is initiated with Student Health Services (SHS).\u00a0 Visit the SHS Medical Leave of Absence<\/a> page, and scroll down to the section titled “Medical Review Process”.\u00a0 \u00a0This details the paperwork that must be submitted by students and healthcare providers.\u00a0 If you have questions, please contact Student Health Services at 617-353-3569.<\/p>\n

Medical Review Process and Pre-Registration for the semester of return\/re-enrollment<\/h4>\n

Medical review documents may be submitted at any time. <\/span><\/p>\n

To be considered for return in a given semester, please follow the recommended submission timing as listed in the chart below.\u00a0 Once all required documentation is submitted and any necessary appointments are completed, the Medical Review Committee will review the materials. The Committee meets monthly and will notify students of its decision by email by the end of each month. <\/span><\/p>\n

Students are encouraged to review the University Registrar\u2019s <\/span>Registration Dates and Times<\/span><\/a> to plan appropriately for completing the medical review process before pre-registration begins, for their intended semester of return.\u00a0 Undergraduate students may find it helpful to review the <\/span>timelines for return-from-leave\/re-enrollment steps<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
