Her first book,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Hamlet\u2019s Arab Journey: Shakespeare\u2019s Prince and Nasser\u2019s Ghost<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>(Princeton, 2011), has been taught in university courses ranging from \u201cTheatre History\u201d to \u201cThe New Comparative Literature\u201d to \u201cAnthropology of the Middle East.\u201d Her current research continues the effort to situate Arab cultural production in global context. Her book manuscript,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Another East:<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Arab Writers, Moscow Dreams<\/em>, reconstructs some literary legacies of Arab-Russian and Arab-Soviet cultural ties. Another ongoing book project,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Sindbad\u2019s Raft, Houdini\u2019s Cage: Arab\/ic Theatre in the New World Market,<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>analyzes the phenomenon of Arab\/ic theatre produced for European and American audiences. Her translations include<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Hamlet<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>adaptations by Syrian and Iraqi playwrights (in<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Four Arab Hamlet Plays<\/em>, co-edited with Marvin Carlson, Segal Theatre Center, 2016) and Sonallah Ibrahim\u2019s Moscow-set novel<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Ice<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span>(Seagull Publishing, 2019).<\/p>\n<p>At BU, Litvin teaches Arabic and world literature, including literary translation, \u201cGlobal Shakespeares,\u201d and \u201c1001 Nights in the World Literary Imagination.\u201d She was founding director of the Middle East &amp; North Africa Studies Program (2013-2017). She advises students in the Arabic minor and WLL\u2019s BA in Middle Eastern and South Asian Languages &amp; Literatures. She is a core faculty member of the new Masters in Literary Translation.<\/p>\n<p>Litvin\u2019s research has been supported by the Harvard Radcliffe Institute, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, ACLS, BU Peter Paul Career Development Professorship, Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Center for Arabic Study Abroad. Her writing and interviews have appeared in<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Theatre Research International<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Journal of Arabic Literature<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Critical Survey<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Tank<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>PMLA<\/em>, several Shakespeare journals, and the online venues<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>ArabLit,<\/em><span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Marginalia Review of Books<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>Words Without Borders<\/em>,<span>\u00a0<\/span><em>n+1<\/em>.
