The major goal in these research projects is to elucidate the underlying fundamental chemistry and engineering principles and to use that insight to direct our creative and scientific efforts.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>We are designing, synthesizing, and characterizing novel dendrimers<\/strong>, termed \u201cbiodendrimers,\u201d for tissue engineering and biotechnological applications. Currently, we are evaluating these novel biomaterials for the repair of corneal lacerations, for the delivery of anti-cancer drugs, for the delivery of DNA, and as temporary biodegradable scaffolds for cartilage repair.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We are creating novel polymeric coatings<\/strong> termed \u201cinterfacial biomaterials\u201d that control biology on plastic, metal, and ceramic surfaces.<\/li>\n<li><strong>We are designing electrochemical-based sensors\/devices<\/strong> using conducting polymer nanostructures and specific DNA structural motifs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"author":11707,"template":"","_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/15629"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/profile"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/11707"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/15629\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":15632,"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/profile\/15629\/revisions\/15632"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/urop\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=15629"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
