Students can conduct research in any discipline from literature to engineering to visual arts. We encourage students to pursue research opportunities in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.<\/p>\n

We recommend settling into your college routine, but we encourage students to explore their research interests and the different types of research conducted at BU as soon as they feel comfortable.<\/p>\n

It depends. Most students assist faculty members on research projects they are already undertaking. Some students design their own projects and find a faculty member in a similar discipline to mentor them.<\/p>\n

Determine what type of research you want to conduct. Find a Boston University faculty member (UROP can help).\u00a0 We post current research opportunities on our website<\/a>. Once you\u2019ve found a faculty mentor, decide if you are going to volunteer, conduct research for credit, or apply for UROP funding.<\/p>\n

How many times can I get UROP funding<\/span>?<\/h3>

You can receive UROP funding twice as an undergraduate. We encourage you to consider your research journey as an undergraduate at BU. Perhaps you can volunteer on a research project to get started, apply for research for credit through your major department, or find other funding sources.<\/p>\n
