Volunteer Basis, Independent Funding Available, Potential for UROP Funding

We have a project to study on ischemia/reperfusion as model of ocular diseases including diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma. The ischemia/reperfusion leads to interruption of blood flow (ischemia) and hyper-sensitization of the retina to oxygen, which causes severe oxidative damage as oxygen returns (reperfusion). The interns of this project will learn about the physiology and pathology of the eye , histological techniques, and immunohistochemistry. We are looking for sophomore and junior students that will have minimally two mornings available and 12 hours working in the lab. There is an opportunity for stipends.

Contact Dr. Ng at tatfong@bu.edu with your CV and your sophomore or junior class schedule.
