UROP can help you get involved in faculty-mentored research in any academic area: the humanities, natural and social sciences, medicine, arts, or education. We’re here to help from the very beginning, because defining your goals upfront goes a long way toward helping you achieve them.
Define your interests and goals
Check department websites for information about faculty research activities — be proactive, reach out to them directly about your interests and possible research opportunities.
Consult other student researchers
Current and past participants are a great source of tips and strategies to help you get involved, from setting realistic expectations to offering advice and support throughout your project.
Leverage your network
Talk to your professors and academic advisor(s) about your plans to take advantage of UROP; attend departmental events to learn about ongoing research projects and meet possible mentors.
Visit the UROP website often for updates and additions to our listing of opportunities; email us, call us at 617-353-2020, or visit our office at 143 Bay State Road.
