However, if you want to count something as one of your 5 electives, you will have to first get a course equivalency from the appropriate department (i.e. Neuroscience, Psychology, Biology, etc.) using the steps below and then if it does not equate to a currently accepted elective (i.e. you get NE 3** elective credit instead of NE 333)\u00a0 you may submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSfuSXeuZJKbw-qF02o895WoLSirtemRETSYx8gmTVV9GuY0yg\/viewform\">Department Petition<\/a>\u00a0to have it fulfill a neuroscience elective.<\/p>\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Step 1: Check the BU Database<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check the<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/reg\/students\/transfer-equivalency\/\">\u00a0BU transfer equivalency database<\/a>\u00a0to see if your proposed transfer course has already been evaluated by BU.<\/li>\n<li>If your proposed course is listed<span>\u00a0<\/span><span>with the exact course number you need<\/span>, you will receive the equivalent\u00a0course credit after you take these steps:\n<ul>\n<li>Email your college (CAS students: fill out<span>\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/cas\/cas-advising-transfer-credit-pre-approval-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">this form<\/a>) that you plan to\u00a0take this pre-approved transfer course.<\/li>\n<li>Successfully pass the course per college guidelines.<\/li>\n<li>Have the institution mail your official transcript to the Credit Evaluation Department at 881 Commonwealth Avenue, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02215.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>If your course is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">not listed<\/span> in the BU\u00a0equivalency database (or is listed with a different course number than you need), go to the <strong>Next Steps<\/strong> section below.<\/li>\n<li>More information on the <a href=\"\/upn\/files\/2024\/10\/Transfer-Credit-Process.pdf\">Transfer Credit Process<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"bu_collapsible_container \" aria-live=\"polite\" data-customize-animation=\"false\"><h3 class=\"bu_collapsible\" aria-expanded=\"false\"tabindex=\"0\" role=\"button\">Next Steps<\/h3><div class=\"bu_collapsible_section\" style=\"display: none;\"><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Fill out the <a href=\"\/upn\/files\/2025\/05\/CAS-Transfer-Course-Equivalency-Form-2024.pdf\">Transfer Course Equivalency Form<\/a><\/span><span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Obtain a full\u00a0course syllabus* including the weekly lecture topics and textbook information. If the course has a lab, you must also submit a full\u00a0lab syllabus including the weekly lab topics and lab manual information.<\/li>\n<li>Submit your transfer form and syllabus to the appropriate department for review i.e. Psychology for PS courses, Physics for PY courses, Math for MA (for NE courses: email to <a href=\"mailto:jilliann@bu.edu\">Jillian Nichols<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Once the transfer course has been reviewed, you will receive an email with the evaluation decision.
