\nIssues with creating BU Email Account<\/strong><\/summary>\n
If you don\u2019t receive the email invitation within 7 business days of deposit payment, lose the email, or encounter any problems during the account creation process, then please call the Information Technology Help Desk at 617-353-HELP(4357) or email ithelp@bu.edu<\/a><\/div>\n

Otherwise, any issues or concerns related to the Orientation program specifically should be directed to Boston University Orientation<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\nMaking Changes to your Registration<\/strong><\/summary>\n
After submitting your Orientation registration, students can log back into MyBU Student Portal<\/a> to make changes up to a particular date ahead of the on-campus Orientation program. For students starting in Fall 2026, the deadline to make changes is August 3. In the event you need to make changes or cancel after this date, please contact us<\/a> as soon as possible and we will work with you.<\/div>\n

\nAccount Lacks Proper Level of Authorization<\/strong><\/summary>\n
\n

If you are getting the “Lacks the appropriate level of authorization” error when trying to sign into your MyBU Student Portal or other webpages, you are likely either signing in with your applicant credentials or your computer has that information saved and is trying to sign in with those credentials. Please try the following steps:<\/p>\n

  1. Go to bu.edu\/logout<\/a><\/li>\n
  2. Clear your cache: https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/browsers\/clear-cache\/<\/a><\/li>\n
  3. Go back to the website they are trying to sign into<\/li>\n
  4. Make sure you are signing in with your BU login. Please note this is different than your personal email address or your applicant account sign in.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/div>\n

    If still unsuccessful, then please contact IS&T<\/a> for further assistance.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \nCan\u2019t Participate<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    \n

    While Boston University views the Orientation experience as foundational for a successful start both academically and socially, we recognize that certain circumstances may prevent a new student from fully participating. If you are unable to attend, please submit the form on our contact us<\/a> page and select \u201cI can\u2019t attend Orientation.\u201d\u00a0 A member of the Orientation team will then reach out to you to discuss your situation.<\/p>\n

    Remember,<\/strong> the online Orientation course is also part of your Orientation experience. Even if you are unable to attend the on-campus Orientation program, course completion is still mandatory.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

    \nWhat if I miss a deadline?<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    The deadline to register for our on-campus Orientation for Fall 2026 is Wednesday, July 1, 2026. If you miss the deadline please contact our office<\/a> and a staff member will assist you.<\/div>\n

    \nCollege of General Studies Students<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    All incoming College of General Studies first-year students (Spring 2027 start date) will attend Spring Orientation<\/a> which will take place in January 2027. New students starting in Spring 2027 will move in during the day on Thursday, January 14, 2027. Spring Orientation will begin in the evening on Thursday, January 14, 2027.<\/div>\n

    Incoming Students<\/h3>\n

    \nIs participation in Orientation mandatory?<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    Yes, participation in Orientation is mandatory for all new undergraduate students. Students are expected to check in with their Orientation Leader every day of Orientation (Wednesday, August 26 – Tuesday, September 1).<\/div>\n

    \nWhen can I move into my first-year housing assignment?<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    Students who are living on campus during the Fall 2026 semester will move directly into their Fall housing assignment for Orientation. Move in for all new incoming students will take place on Monday, August 24, 2026 – Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Students will need to select a move in day and timeframe – more information can be found on the housing website<\/a>.<\/div>\n

    \nWhere should I go when I first arrive on campus for move in\/Orientation?<\/strong><\/summary>\n
    If you are living on campus, first go to your housing check-in location<\/a> on Monday, August 24 or Tuesday, August 25. During Housing check-in you will receive your BU Terrier Card and move into your housing assignment. Check-in for Orientation will take place on Wednesday, August 26, 2026<\/strong>\u00a0at the BU Fitness & Recreation Center<\/a>. <\/div>\n
