{"id":29,"date":"2020-04-14T16:31:59","date_gmt":"2020-04-14T20:31:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/?page_id=29"},"modified":"2026-04-17T16:52:48","modified_gmt":"2026-04-17T20:52:48","slug":"registration","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/how-to-join\/registration\/","title":{"rendered":"Register for Orientation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>All full-time, undergraduate students attending Boston University starting in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027 will be able to register for Orientation via their <a href=\"https:\/\/student.bu.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MyBU Student Portal<\/a> starting on <strong>Friday, May 1, 2026<\/strong>. Boston University expects all new students to participate in their Orientation experience in its entirety. This experience includes completing the Online Orientation Course and attending on-campus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/what-to-expect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Orientation<\/a>. <!--<strong>The deadline to register for Winter Orientation is Friday, January 3, 2025<\/strong>. <strong>If you miss the deadline, please contact our office.\u00a0<\/strong>\n\nAll Orientation reservations are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so please register as soon as possible.--> <!--Sessions in June do have capacity limits, and the final session (Session 7), which takes place the last week of August, is reserved primarily for our international students\/students who live far from campus.--> In order to register for Orientation, new students must complete the following steps in order. Please read carefully and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reach out to us<\/a> with any questions!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"checklist\">\n<li>\n<h4>Step 1: Submit your Enrollment Deposit Payment<\/h4>\n<p>Paying your deposit reflects an initial commitment to Boston University. Once your deposit payment has been submitted, it usually takes 3\u20135 days for the payment to actually process and become reflected in all of the University systems. Take advantage of this processing period to complete the next step!<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Step 2: Review the Orientation Website<\/h4>\n<p>Be sure to review all of the information on the Orientation website. The information on our site should help you understand what to expect. If you are unclear on anything you read, be sure to <a class=\"red\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contact us<\/a> before you register. We are happy to assist you with any questions\/concerns.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Step 3: Wait for the Email Invitation<\/h4>\n<p>Once your enrollment deposit has processed, you will receive an email from BU IT [ithelp@bu.edu] inviting you to set up your BU email and sign up for Orientation. <strong>Do not lose this email!<\/strong> It contains a link that is unique to you. This link will begin the process of creating your permanent &#8220;@bu.edu&#8221; email address.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Step 4: Create your BU Email<\/h4>\n<p>You must activate your Early Access account and then confirm you have read the Boston University Google Apps Acceptable Use and Data Security agreement. This will then give you access to BU Google Apps including BU Google Mail to access your University email account, <strong>which will be the primary method BU will use to communicate with you going forward<\/strong>. For more details, check out this comprehensive explanation of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/email\/google-mail\/welcome\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">setting up your account<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you encounter any issues setting up your email account, please feel free to contact the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Information Services &amp; Technology (IS&amp;T) IT Help Center<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>\u00a0Step 5: Recommended- Submit your Vaccination Documentation<\/h4>\n<p>Using your new BU email account and Kerberos password, you can now log in and upload your incoming health requirements via <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/getting-started\/using-patient-connect\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Patient Connect<\/a>. Boston University highly recommends everyone stay up to date on all CDC COVID-19 vaccination <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/covid\/vaccines\/stay-up-to-date.html?CDC_AAref_Val=https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/stay-up-to-date.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recommendations<\/a>. Please review the Student Health Services <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/shs\/covid-19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> for the most up to date information regarding University standards and COVID-19 guidance.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>\u00a0Step 6: Register for Orientation<\/h4>\n<p>Using your new BU email account and Kerberos password again, you can now log in and complete the Orientation registration form via <a href=\"https:\/\/student.bu.edu\/MyBU\/s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">MyBU Student Portal<\/a>.\u00a0Registration will open on <strong>Friday, May 1, 2026. <\/strong>Registrations are not considered complete until they have been submitted, so don&#8217;t forget to click the Submit button once you have completed your form. Once you have submitted, you will be able to make changes to your registration on your own up until August 1, 2026. If you would like to make any changes to your registration after August 1, 2026 please <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/undergradorientation\/contact-us\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">contact us<\/a>.<br \/>\n<!--\n<strong> IMPORTANT:<\/strong> You have the opportunity to create your own schedule on Days 2 and 3 (Friday and Saturday) of your Orientation. Both days offer 1-hour session blocks and Saturday includes longer track experiences ranging from 2 hours to a full day. <!-- Please avoid selecting overlapping sessions (for example, two sessions at 9am) and aim to choose <strong>2 to 3 sessions on Wednesday and 1 session on Thursday<\/strong> for a well-rounded experience. If you select fewer than 1 session in total, a member of the Orientation team will follow up to help you complete your schedule. You are welcome to edit your session selections anytime before January 5 by returning to your Student Portal. You will get your Terrier Card at your check-in location during move-in. Please consider submitting your photo as soon as possible.<\/p>\n<p><!--\n<strong>Registration for Orientation is now open via MyBU Student Portal.<\/strong>\n\n<a href=\"https:\/\/student.bu.edu\/MyBU\/s\/\" class=\"button\">Register Now<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<\/li>\n\n\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n\n<h3>Terrier Card<\/h3>\n\n\n<span>Part of being in the community is preparing to receive your official BU identification card \u2013 the\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markku0zgzqnk\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Terrier<\/span>\u00a0Card. This card is not only used to show your membership in the\u00a0<span data-markjs=\"true\" class=\"markku0zgzqnk\" data-ogac=\"\" data-ogab=\"\" data-ogsc=\"\" data-ogsb=\"\">Terrier<\/span> Community, but it is used for swipe access into residence and dining halls. The directions to upload your picture can be found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/housing\/terrier-card-photo-upload\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>. We encourage uploading as early as possible. As long as you meet this deadline, you will receive your Terrier Card when you arrive on campus for your Orientation session.
