{"id":92,"date":"2010-01-07T17:33:07","date_gmt":"2010-01-07T22:33:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ub\/?page_id=92"},"modified":"2025-10-17T16:45:04","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T20:45:04","slug":"application","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ub\/home\/application\/","title":{"rendered":"Application"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>How to Apply<\/h2>\n<p>The Upward Bound program is a federally-funded TRIO program that provides academic support to <strong>low-income and first-<img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/ub\/files\/2020\/05\/summerawrdub1-636x494.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1163 alignright\" width=\"448\" height=\"348\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ub\/files\/2020\/05\/summerawrdub1-636x494.jpeg 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ub\/files\/2020\/05\/summerawrdub1-768x596.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/ub\/files\/2020\/05\/summerawrdub1-1024x795.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/>generation<\/strong> <strong> college bound students<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0To qualify students need to either meet TRIO low-income guidelines <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">or<\/span> be first-generation college, meaning neither parent has obtained a bachelor\u2019s degree.\u00a0 <span>Additionally, to qualify, students must have at least started the ninth grade <\/span><u>and<\/u><span> either attend one of the program\u2019s target high schools that include the Community Academy of Science and Health, Brighton, English, Margarita Muniz and Snowden or attend a public school\u00a0and live in one of the program\u2019s target neighborhoods that include Dorchester, East Boston, Mattapan and Roxbury<\/span>.\u00a0 <strong><em>Students attending the target high schools are given priority in the admissions process<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During the school year, students must attend tutoring and academic instruction after school.
