Here are 3 tips for making sure your bike\/scooter isn&#8217;t stolen:<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Use a U-lock (not a cable lock) and lock your bike or scooter well<\/li>\n<li>Register your bike with BU (either <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/reg\/#crc\">CRC<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/reg\/bumc-bike-registration-and-secure-bike-cage-access\/\">BUMC<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li>Use BU&#8217;s secure bike rooms<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We can help you with the last two (and we can tell you where to get a U-lock as well).<\/p>\n<h2>Why Register?<\/h2>\n<p>Transportation Services&#8217; bike &amp; scooter registration program is open to all members of the BU community free of charge. Benefits include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Allowing the Boston University Police Department to use bicycle registration data to contact the owners of recovered bicycles (e.g., those that are lost or stolen)<\/li>\n<li>Notification if your bike is impounded<\/li>\n<li>Occasional news about bike programs and events<\/li>\n<li>Access to secure bike rooms!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Which Registration Should I Get?<\/h2>\n<p>For access to secure bike parking on the <strong>Charles River (and Fenway) Campuses<\/strong>, bring your bike to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/buck\/\">the BUCK<\/a> at 1019 Commonwealth Ave. More info on CRC registration below.<\/p>\n<p>For access to the 710 Albany Street Bike Cage at the <strong>Medical Campus<\/strong>, fill out <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/reg\/bumc-bike-registration-and-secure-bike-cage-access\/\">this form<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you need access to <strong>both<\/strong>, do both!<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"crc\">CRC Registration<\/h2>\n<p><strong>To register your bicycle or scooter on the Charles River Campus, bring it to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/buck\/\">the BUCK<\/a> at 1019 Commonwealth Ave. <\/strong>Be sure to check hours.<\/p>\n<h2>CRC Secure Bike &amp; Scooter Storage<\/h2>\n<p>Locking your bike or scooter behind a locked door provides an extra measure of security.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For access to the Charles River Campus&#8217; secure bike rooms, register your bike or scooter in person (see above).<\/strong> Access may take up the 3 business days after registration.<\/li>\n<li>All CRC bike room access expires on May 31st of each year.<\/li>\n<li>To <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">renew<\/span> access to Charles River Campus bike rooms, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/reg\/bike-room-access-renewal\/\">fill out this form<\/a>. Access renewal may take up to 3 business days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following bike rooms are accessible to anyone with a registered bike:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>West Campus &#8211; 32 Harry Agganis Way<\/li>\n<li>Student Village &#8211; 10 Buick Street (enter via glass door facing Buick Street)<\/li>\n<li>Howard Thurman Center &#8211; 808 Comm Ave. (enter via Booth Theater courtyard)<\/li>\n<li>South Campus &#8211; 504 Park Drive (enter via alley behind building)<\/li>\n<li>Kilachand Center (CILSE) &#8211; 610 Comm Ave. (enter via courtyard facing Morse)<\/li>\n<li>Warren Towers &#8211; 700 Comm Ave. (enter garage via Hinsdale)<\/li>\n<li>Center for Computing &amp; Data Sciences &#8211; 665 Comm Ave. (separate structure east of CCDS)<\/li>\n<li>Towers &#8211; 140 Bay State Rd.<\/li>\n<li>Peabody Hall &#8211; 210 Riverway (enter via gate on Pilgrim Road)<\/li>\n<li>Pilgrim House &#8211; 37 Pilgrim Road (enter via exterior ramp)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The following dorms have secure bike rooms that are <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">only<\/span> accessible to building residents: StuVi2, Kilachand, 610 Beacon, Danielsen, and various brownstones.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"bumc\">BUMC Registration &amp; Bike Cage Access<\/h2>\n<p>Please visit the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/transportation\/bicycling\/reg\/bumc-bike-registration-and-secure-bike-cage-access\/\">BUMC Bike &amp; Scooter Registration and Secure Cage Access page<\/a> to apply for access to the 710 Albany Street Bike Cage, located behind the 710 Albany Street Garage.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bike\/scooter theft is a problem in Boston.
