Senior Lecturer in Spanish
Dr. Avcikurt is a Senior Lecturer in Spanish. She has been at Bu for twenty-five years. She is presently teaching LS 306 Spanish through Translation, which focuses on the linguistic and cultural challenges of translation. As a linguist, she is especially interested in the pragmatics of translation. She has written several articles based on her translations from Spanish and Italian for the website www.mysticsofthechurch.com . She served as Course Head for the Reading/Translation Sequence from 2011-2013. Her doctoral research examines language change and death in the Judeo-Spanish speaking community in Istanbul.
