Robert Trump, BU Alum and President’s Brother, Dies
Robert Trump (DGE’68, CAS’72), Manhattan businessman and younger brother to President Donald Trump, died over the weekend at age 71. A soccer player at BU (team captain and MVP of the 1969 men’s team), and economics major, Robert Trump was on hand in 2013 for the opening of the New Balance Field. After graduating from BU, he first went to work on Wall Street before joining the Trump family business. In a statement, President Trump said: “He was not just my brother, he was my best friend. He will be greatly missed, but we will meet again.” Photo courtesy of BU Athletics.
Bobby Trump was my next door neighbor on the West Campus dorms in the late ‘60s. He was a great guy who never hinted at his family’s background. Those who saw him play soccer will certainly miss his skills on the field. RIP Mr. Trump.
