  1. And here lies the problem with today’s media.. The meaningless celebration of celebrity. How does knowing a celebrity make us anymore important or worthy? The media has been systematically destroying the fabric of society, anything to get people to read it watch so the ratings go up and money comes pouring in.. I could be wrong but I didn’t think BU Today was funded by advertising, and yet here is the sensationalism as it if now programmed into those who enter this field. Like drones, programmed and diving in to make a kill. I’m guilty I read the article looking for how this all pertains to BU and what the significance could possibly be only to be left disappointed and in puzzled awe.

    1. You raise some interesting questions. I have a few thoughts: BU Today is always looking for interesting human interest stories about current students, faculty, and staff, as well as alums around the world. This is not a story, as you say, about the celebration of celebrity. This is a story about a young couple, including a BU alum who had a great experience at COM during his BU years, celebrating a sweet moment together, in an exciting and memorable way, with their family and friends. So, yes it pertains to BU, it shows how alums are going out into the world in their own way and how they are enjoying and celebrating life. Regardless of how you feel, I am still glad you read the story. And chose to comment. So thanks.

    2. What a sweet story about a beautiful young couple. Thank you for sharing this story. It’s great to hear something positive in this day and age.

    3. “… And the haters gonna hate hate hate hate hate…”

Couldn’t resist. Beautiful article. Completely appropriate and like seeing what students did while at BU and how their BU experience got them where they are now.

  2. You could look at any article as a sort of Rorschach test — each person is going to see something slightly different in it. I thought the article was a nice piece about a young couple in love who shared a happy moment with a friend, and about the role music plays in our lives. In a comment above, Irrelevant interpreted the article as the decline of western society, comparing it to drone strike casualties. Irrelevant is not necessarily wrong, they presented some good points about the power of media, cult of celebrity, and the thin connection to BU, but I don’t think this article needed such a cynical response to the Rorschach test. It’s okay to be happy sometimes and have a positive outlook on the world. I enjoyed reading the article and afterwards I searched for the full video on YouTube and it made me smile. Thanks Doug.
