There are 23 comments on After Nearly Three Decades, MED Pediatrician Nicole Prudent to Retire

  1. Dr Prudent is one of the best pediatricians BMC has ever had. As a nurse who formally worked with her. She was everything to her patients, physican, social worker, mother, sister and most of all someone they could depend on. I know pediatric clinic will miss her,as I do.I would tell her The Haitians before leaving Haiti would get a card with BMC on it and her name Nicole Prudent MD.Wishing her the very best in her retirement. Love her to the moon❤

  2. This lady here….. my pediatrician since birth. Offered me an unforgettable opportunity to teach music (at YOFES), at just twelve years old. She saw my potential at a very young age and the rest is history. Well deserved…..

  3. As the new Executive Director of YoFES and somebody who is known doctor prudent for some time, I can honestly say that her passion and dedication to the youth she serves has no bounds! Her clinical work at BMC may be over, but she can never stop working in this community! The love is too strong.

  4. Dr. Prudent was my pediatrician when I first moved to the US from Haiti. She was an amazing doctor and truly made me feel comfortable and welcomed to the new country. One of the first statements she told me was that she only attends very few High School graduations but she loves to go to the College graduations. She is indeed an inspiration to the Haitian Community. Thank you for your service to the Haitian Community!

  5. Dr Prudent was a fabulous and generous mentor to me. I was able to flourish in my public health career due to her guidance and gift of time and knowledge. She was a passionate advocate for the community and thanks to her many others flourish also. She was modest and never boasted of her accomplishments. She received many awards and did not display them due to her modesty. She always gives others credit even when she sometimes did most of the work. She will be missed.

  6. Many Haitian women who had gone to Boston to deliver their babies have had interactions with Dr. Nicole Prudent. She is a great person and a very caring doctor. Good job Dr. Prudent!

  7. I have been in the field of early education and care in Boston for over 30 years, because I was pushed by Dr. Prudent who inspired me and supported my work with young children. Due to her deep commitment, and dedication, the child care program that I run for 20 years became the second one to receive national accreditation in Boston. And for that I am infinitely grateful to her. I personally think that what makes Dr. Prudent unique is her ability to build youth’s confidence in their capacity to transform the reality of their life, go to the next level, and do good for themselves and humanity. I am certain that the community will never forget.

  8. Dr. Prudent!
1984 was the year when we came from Haiti! I’ll always remember how proud it made me feel to have come into contact with such an accomplished “woman from my homeland. You were so kind and humble! You have helped my family and I in ways that you couldn’t even imagine! Many blessings! The community will miss you sorely!
    Job well done!!!

  11. Never thought this day would come, WOW THREE WONDERFUL DECADES…

Dr. Nicole Prudent is extraordinary Haitian woman, mentor and mother to the motherless saved many lives including myself providing quality healthcare and delivering exceptional compassionate to underserved and complicated patients.I am truly appreciative, grateful and bless to know such amazing doctor that is irreplaceable and will be missed in our community and in the hallway of BMC Pediatrics/Adolescent Dept. Congratulations! Dr. Nicole Prudent to a well-deserved Retreat :)

  12. Dr. Nicole Prudent: Decades of giving and caring for others deserve the utmost appreciation and respect. You may be retiring, but knowing you, you will continue to serve those that are lucky enough to be in your presence with the same dedication, love and kindness. As for me and my family, you can reflect on your time at BMC and in Boston, and remember us as one of your achievements. Thank you very much for keeping our daughter healthy and for your unstinting support. Rest in the knowledge that there is a family in us that owe you a life time gratitude. We will continue to honor, love and respect you the same way we always have.

  13. Dr. Prudent is a true cornerstone in the Haitian community and an excellent mentor. The decades of work shine through the hundreds of lives that you have enriched. Thank you for serving so selflessly and seeing the potential in every child. As I continue in my medical studies, I hope to inspire and lead with such passion for our community.

  14. Dr. Prudent has been such an incredibly positive influence on my life personally. As my former pediatrician and current mentor, I have been fortunate enough to have known her for over 20 years. I was involved with the life-changing work that she has done with the mentorship program, connecting youth with medical professionals who are able to model a future career path for them. Because of the mentorship program and many other such programs Dr. Prudent has spearheaded in the Haitian community, there are young people whose lives have been set on the right course and who are achieving their goals today. I am one of them. I recently graduated with my MBA/MPH from Boston University and this would NOT have been possible for me without Dr. Prudent’s encouragement, guidance, and support. I’m glad that my daughter was able to be featured here with her in this article celebrating her life’s work as a testament to the fact that the positive influence she has had on the youth in our community is so pervasive that the effects will continue to echo on in future generations long after her retirement. We love you, Dr. P!

  15. It has been a great privilege and honor to know and collaborate with Dr. Nicole Prudent. It is through my interactions with her for the past 22 years that I am able to attest to her unsurpassed dedication to duty and to her commitment in advancing BMC’s mission in the past 30 years. She has shone light were there was darkness, hope were there was despair. Her holistic approach to promoting the wellbeing of disadvantaged communities demonstrated by her clinical practice, community outreach, cultural adapted programming, health disparity research, health literacy as well as teaching and mentoring students, is by any standard exceptional and represent a model to reducing health disparities in the 21st century. Well done Dr. Prudent!

  16. Dr. Prudent, All the best for an amazing retirement! Thank you for your years of transformative leadership in cultural competence in healthcare and dedication to the Haitian community and other disadvantaged communities. You are a trailblazer and have made history. Last week, I talked about your retirement with relatives and they told me how you assisted my sister in getting help for my disabled niece, Yannick. So, when a healthcare professional as compassionate as you finally gets to retire we feel a sense of loss. But, it is comforting to know that you have passed the torch to a new generation of caregivers you have mentored and you will be still active in the community.
Also, I’d like to thank you for inspiring me and others to do our absolute best. Again, enjoy your retirement!

  17. Dr. Nicole Prudent is extremely welcoming and appreciative of others. She was of immense help when I had just moved from Haiti as she helped me adjust to my new life in Boston. Dr. Prudent is also really amiable, and from the first day we met, she always took the time to listen to me and help me in any way she could. When I felt overwhelmed by any situations my new life in Boston threw at me, she had a special way of making my problems feel smaller by helping me brainstorm to look for solutions, and by sharing any references and available resources she knew of with me. She inspired me when I was despaired, and led me when I needed guidance.
As Dr. Prudent is retiring from Boston Medical Center, I know that her work serving the Haitian community and helping improve their lives will not be forgotten, and will always be remembered by those who greatly benefited from her passion and love for her people.
    Keep going Dr. Prudent.

  18. I have had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with Dr. Nicole Prudent for the last 30 years. In addition to being Physician, she has worked tirelessly to improve the lives and the health of Haitian immigrants throughout New England and beyond. No one, to my knowledge, has invested more in her community than Dr. Prudent. Her endeavors, initiatives and sacrificial commitment have been a source of inspiration to many, including me. I am proud to call her my friend and wish her the best in her well-deserved retirement. Her impact in so many lives will never be forgotten.

Way to go, Nicole and many blessings on you!

  19. Nicole you are simple amazing!
I have worked with Nicole for more years than I care to admit. I have also worked with Hattie who commented earlier and we both knew that Nicole’s clinic never be humdrum or boring. She has consistently being an advocate for equity and access to care for minorities long before terms like social determinants of health became fashionable.
I also had the pleasure of accompanying her on humatarian trips to Haiti where she introduced Reach out and Read. Ti Moun an nou LI (Reach out and Read) was successfully received there as she made her emphatic pitches on the benefits and value of such a program for children to the leadership of a number of hospitals.
Nicole is a true inspiration. She leaves great shoes to fill. The embodiment of a pioneer, hats off to you!!!

  20. Nicole was the best example of what a doctor should be to her patients. She set the bar high and never would leave the clinic until she did every thing she could to help and encourage them to do their best in everything. She gave her life to them and hope for a better life. She is truly a special person and her kindness and caring will never be forgotten by all who know her.
