  1. My son Carl Adipietro is a freshman , what building is the freshman dorms. I need an address . Also what is the procedure when we arrive.
    Thx
    Silvana

    1. There are 3 large freshmen dorms on different sides of the campus, so ask your student for the name of the building they were assigned and google it for the physical address.

    2. Hi, I’m an incoming freshman also. Your son should be aware of the particular building he has been assigned to, and the addresses are online. Detailed check-in procedures should be on the BU housing website.

      Hope this helped!

    1. Hi Linda,

Danielsen check-in is at Danielsen Hall, 512 Beacon St. If driving, you can unload in front of the building and then park in one of the BU parking lots.

      All the best!

        1. Hi Maura,

Danielsen residents pick up keys and bins at Danielsen Hall, 512 Beacon St.

  2. Thank you for your message. The BU Housing staff will reach out directly to Carl to confirm his room assignment. Students assigned to the West Campus area (Claflin, Sleeper and Rich Halls) if arriving by car, should go directly to Babcock St. BU Police and Parking Service staff will direct them to the drop off area and the parking lot.

  3. To all arriving on campus with a truck of any kind:
    1) Do not drive trucks on Storrow Drive!
    2) Do not drive trucks on Storrow Drive!
    3) Do not drive trucks on Storrow Drive!

  4. My daughter is moving into Riverway dorm. We are scheduled for Sunday the 2nd but want to change to this Friday. Do we need to call BU to change the date? Also, does she activate her ID at the dorm location.

    1. Thank you for your question. Your daughter can log back into the housing portal and change her arrival day. Please do not arrive on Friday morning as another school will be moving in at that time directly across from the BU Fenway Campus. Her BUID card is automatically activated.

      Enjoy!

      1. I noticed on this email that she can start bringing her things on Wed. or Thursday, is this an option? I understand that Friday morning is not a good time. Thank you.

        1. She can move in on Wed or Thur between 10 am and 4pm. There is no move-in on Friday morning to accommodate Simmons College’s student orientation. Move-in resumes Friday afternoon between 1 and 4 pm.

        1. Hi Phyllis,

Check in at the Fenway Campus will be located at the Pilgrim House which is located at 37 Pilgrim Road. Parking will be available at our parking facilities located at 25, 55, and 65 Pilgrim Road. Please feel free to use any unreserved space in either of those facilities.

  5. If I plan to move into StuVi2 early on Friday, August 31, do I have to make special arrangements to make sure I can check in? Or will I be able to move in without contacting anyone?

    1. Thanks for your question. You should register your arrival date in the housing portal. Then just show up and check in with the residence staff.

      Welcome back!

  6. Good Afternoon,

My daughter will be moving into Kilachand Hall on Saturday Morning. Are we able to park in front of the hall to unload? Is there a lot available after unloading to park in? Thanks for your help!

    1. Hi Eric,

Yes, you may unload the vehicle directly in front of Kilachand. You will then be able to proceed down Bay State Road and park your vehicle in the CAS Lot, 240 Bay State Rod.

      Good luck!

    2. Great question. You will unload in front of the building. Then you will be directed to a nearby lot.

  7. Hello!

I am a freshman and I am planning to move into Claflin Hall on the 30th and My parents and I were wondering where the best place to park without problem would be to be able to unload.

Thank you so much! I can’t wait to move in!
    Sara

    1. Hi Sara,

After unloading on Babcock Street near Claflin, BUPD will assist with directing you to the safest location, you may park the vehicle in the Langsam Garage. The garage is located across the street from Claflin and our employees and BUPD will be able to direct you to the entrance.

      Welcome to BU!

  8. Hello – My son is checking into Warren Towers B on Saturday.
From the info in your main message, seems it will be best for us to get there before noon – the earlier the better.
Strange question – how high is the ceiling in your garage? We will have a cargo bin on the top of our car.

How long are we permitted to leave our car in the garage? Are there people there to facilitate getting all the stuff up the elevator?

    Thank you.

    1. Hi Emily,

The height clearance of the garage is six feet, two inches. We will have staff members to assist with the flow of vehicles and Residence Life staff will assist with rolling carts. You will unload from the third floor of the garage to utilize the elevators then we will ask you to move your vehicle to the basement of the garage to keep spaces open near the elevators. You may leave your vehicle in the garage for as long as you need.

      Timothy Dunn
Operations Manager, Parking & Transportation Services

    2. Emily,

Just one more addition to my response. If your vehicle is in fact too tall for the garage you will be able to unload on Cummingotn Mall. Our staff members will be able to direct you to this area, it is directly behind Warren Towers, and can also assist in obtaining a cart for you.

If you need any other assistance, please do no hesitate to call our office at (617) 353-2160. Our office is open weekdays from 9am to 5pm and the office will also be open from 10am to 2pm on Saturday if you need any assistance when you arrive on campus.

    1. Thank you for your question Hannah. You can pick up your apartment key at the South Campus Area office located at 518 Park Drive.

  9. Good Afternoon,

My daughter will be moving into Kilachand Hall on Saturday. Which campus Kilachard belongs? Central campus? East campus? Fenway campus? Where is the deviding line for east/west and central campus? Thanks for your help!

    1. Good Evening,

Kilachand is located in East Campus. For our purposes we use Silber Way as a dividing line between East and Central Campus. If you are driving you may unload on Bay State Road directly in front of Kilachand. You will then be able to proceed down Bay State Road and park your vehicle in the CAS Lot, 240 Bay State Rod.

      Good luck!

      Timothy Dunn
Operations Manager, Parking & Transportation Services

    2. Hi Ping,

Kilachand Hall’s address is 91 Bay State Road. This is considered East Campus. There will be many BU Police and student Scarlett Squad members to direct you to the building.

      All the best!

  10. Hello, my daughter will be moving into 580 Commonwealth Ave (graduate housing apartment) on Thursday morning. Where should we unload and park our minivan? Thanks in advance for your assistance!

    1. Hi Trisha,

You have two parking options when moving into 580 Commonwealth Ave.

      1. Park at the meters in front of the building.

      2. Park at a meter on the even side of Beacon St. which is through the alley by foot behind the building.

There are only 2-3 meters in front of the building and this will be your shortest walk for moving in. If you want one of these I would recommend renting a meter from the City of Boston. Linked here – https://www.boston.gov/reserve-parking-spot-your-moving-truck

There will most likely be plenty of meters available on Beacon St., but of course the walk to the building is a little bit longer.

The majority of tenants for 580 Comm Ave moved in on 8/15/18 and earlier so there shouldn’t be too much of a crowd moving in here come Thursday. If you have any questions in the meantime or are having issues on Thursday when you arrive, feel free to reach out to me and I’d be happy to assist.

    1. Good Morning,

Your best option is to unload in front of Myles Standish Hall, 610 Beacon Street, and utilize a rolling cart from there. The back entrance of 481 Commonwealth Avenue will be almost directly across the street from Myles. You may then move your vehicle to the Warren Towers Garage, 700 Commonwealth Avenue, where parking will be available at no charge.

  11. Hi, my daughter is moving in on 8/29 she’s at 277 Babcock Street, Rich hall. We are leaving our home after 5am will take us 3hr 40m to get there. Do we show up to her building and park to check in or is there a specific street to unload?

    1. Hi Christine,

You will be able to unload on Babcock Street, BUPD and our staff members will be on site to direct you to the best location to unload near Rich Hall. After unloading the vehicle you will be directed to park across the street from Rich in the Langsam Garage.

  12. Hello I am moving into 726 Comm Ave. (White Stones) on August 29. Can I park in the parking lot inbetween EPIC and Pavement? Also how do we get our things up, the elevator is quite small..

    1. Hi Isis,

Yes, you may park in that lot but it does fill up with employee permit holders during weekdays. If you do find that the lot is full, parking will be available in the Warren Towers Garage. The entrance to the garage is located on Hinsdale Mall, you will see a Starbucks on the corner as you proceed down Commonwealth Avenue past 726 Commonwealth.

  13. Hi, my daughter is moving into West Campus, Sleeper Hall tomorrow since her orientation starts tomorrow. Does she needs to register online for the move in?

When we arrive, do we pick up the key at Sleeper Hall? If we arrive before 10 am, are we allow to unload even we can’t move in until 10 am?

    Thanks.

    1. Thank you for your question FL. Your daughter does not need to register as we are expecting all of the students who will be attending Orientation. Your daughter will pick-up her key, and a luggage cart, in Rich Hall which is immediately adjacent to Sleeper Hall. There will be helpful continuing students around to help you find your way. If you arrive early you can unload. Just don’t arrive too early.

  14. Hello,

I am an Incoming Freshman and have been assigned to Towers East,Do i need to register my move in date? Is there a specific time slot as to when i will need to check in or is it based on whenever i reach campus. Also what shall be my parking place and unloading location. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

  15. Hi Surya,

Thank you for your questions. You can find most of the answers and more at the BU Housing website using this link:
    http://www.bu.edu/housing/living/moving/fall/

You can unload in front of 140 Bay State Road. Helpful BU Police officers and friendly students will direct you to longer term parking in nearby lots after you unload.

    1. Good Morning,

You may certainly park in the Agganis Arena Garage on Sunday. Just be sure to park before 1pm as the two roads leading to the garage will close at that time for Matriculation.

  16. Hi! If I will be arriving on campus later than the designated move-in time (after 4pm), will I still be able to check in and get my key at my res life office upon my arrival? Thanks!

    1. Hi Rebecca,

Thanks for your message. If you arrive after the check-in operation has closed for the day, please contact the Resident Assistant (RA) on duty. If you are checking-in at one of the larger residences the Security Assistant will help you to contact the RA.

  17. Good evening,

I am moving into the Theo House Community tomorrow (I am delighted to begin this journey!). Anyways, I understand we need to stop by first the Terrier Card Office at the George Sherman Union and then Kilachand Hall to pick up keys before moving toward Raleigh St to unload. Will I be able to park briefly outside George Sherman and Kilachand Hall as stops on our way, or should we park in a longer-term lot right when we enter the city and then pick up the car after collecting the ID and room key? Thank you so much for your help!

    1. Good Morning Jenna,

I believe the best solution for this would be to park the vehicle in the Warren Towers Garage when you first arrive. From there it is a short walk to both the GSU and Kilachand and then you or someone else can retrieve the car to unload closer to the residence hall. The vehicle can then be returned to the Warren Towers Garage.

The Warren Towers Garage is located at 700 Commonwealth Avenue and accessible from Hinsdale Mall. Keep an eye out for the Starbucks and that will be your turn to make.

      Welcome to campus!

      Timothy Dunn
Operations Manager, Parking & Transportation Services

    2. Hi Jenna,

Welcome to BU! I suggest that you park your car first, then pick-up your room key and check-in at Kilachand Hall, 91 Bay State Road, and then walk up to the Terrier Card Office located in the George Sherman Union for your Terrier Card.

      Enjoy!

  18. Hello,
I would like to know if the BU Shuttle will be open to parents during move-in weekend.
Also, is there any Shuttle that takes near Bed Bath & Beyond? Does the Fenway Campus Shuttle stops at the the Fenway T station?
    Thank you

    1. Hi Marina,

Yes, parents will certainly be able to utilize the BU Shuttle during Move-in. The daytime Fenway Campus shuttle only operates on weekdays but it will operate during Move-in Weekend. This shuttle will stop at 766 Commonwealth Avenue on the Charles River Campus and then at the Fenway Station MBTA bus shelter. This should provide you with easy access to shops located in the Lamdmark Center. To get back to the Charles River Campus, the stop to bring you back will be located directly across the street at the bus shelter opposite the one you were let off at. The bus will then bring you back to 766 Commonwealth Avenue and just be sure you board the bus that displays FENWAY CAMPUS as we will have other buses operating different routes.

More information regarding the Fenway Campus shuttle may be found here: http://www.bu.edu/thebus/2018/08/27/new-fenway-campus-shuttle/

    1. Hi Ann,

My suggestion would be to unload the vehicle in the area of 46 Mountfort Street and then move the vehicle to a lot or garage in the area of Central Campus. The majority of the parking spaces on Mountfor Street and other streets in this area are for residents of the City of Boston who hold resident parking permits through the city. Leaving a vehicle in one of these spaces unattended could result in your vehicle being ticketed.

After unloading, you can move the vehicle to the 766 Commonwealth Avenue Lot or the 730/750 Commonwealth Avenue Lot. Both are short walks back to South Campus.

      Timothy Dunn
Operations Manager, Parking & Transportation Services

  19. Moving in to Buswell St., South campus on Saturday. It appears that all the parking in that area is “on-street.” Is that correct? Will we be able to leave the car there until done moving in (in contrast to “unload and relocate” as the dorm buildings on the main campus)?

    1. Hi Steve,

      You are correct.

The majority of the parking spaces on Buswell Street and other streets in this area are for residents of the City of Boston who hold resident parking permits through the city. Leaving a vehicle in one of these spaces unattended could result in your vehicle being ticketed.

After unloading, you can move the vehicle to the 766 Commonwealth Avenue Lot or the 730/750 Commonwealth Avenue Lot. Both are short walks back to South Campus.

    1. Good Afternoon Chris,

Yes, you may park overnight in the Warren Towers Garage on Friday and Saturday. If the garage is full, overnight parking is also available in the CAS Lot, located at 240 Bay State Road.

      Timothy Dunn
Operations Manager, Parking & Transportation Services

    1. Hello JS,

Check in for 205 Bay State Road is at the Towers, 140 Bay State Road. Parking in Granby or the CAS lot are good options.

  20. Hi Bernard,

Check in and pick-up your key at 575 Commonwealth Avenue. You can unload either at 575 Commonwealth Avenue and make the short walk up to 625 or you can park in the alley behind 625 Commonwealth Avenue. I suggest the 575 option.

    All the best,

  21. Hello, I am moving into 177 Bay State Road on August 31. Where do I go to check in? And I should arrive around 3 pm, is it okay that I continue to move in after 4 pm? I just have to check in before 3, right?
    Thank you.

    1. Hi Kristine,

Your will check in and pick up your room key at the The Towers, 140 Bay State Road. Check in hours are 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Friday. Once checked in you can come and go from the building as you please. I am sure that you will enjoy living on Bay State Road!

      Assistant Vice President, Auxiliary Services

        1. Hi Kristine,

According to my friend Tim, the CAS lot, 240 Bay State Road is your best parking option. I agree with Tim.

          Have fun!

  22. Good morning. My daughter is an incoming freshman and we are moving her into Warren Towers on Saturday morning. How early can we get there to being moving her in, is it 9am ? Is it possible to begin earlier ? Also, if we are taking an Uber to campus, where is the best place to be dropped off with all of her stuff ? Thanks.

    1. Hi David,

Check in at Warren Towers will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday. You are welcome to arrive earlier than 9 a.m. but you may have to wait for the check in operation to begin. Uber drivers are being directed to drop off passengers either in the Warren Towers garage or on Hinsdale Street just past Warren Towers. Ubers and taxis are not allowed to stop in front of Warren Towers as this is a city bike lane.

      Welcome to the BU community!

  23. Hello, I am moving into Myles Standish Hall on Saturday and I was wondering where I should check in and pick up my key. Also, where can we park? Thank you.

    1. Hi Yeelin,

Thank you for your questions. You will check in directly at Myles Standish Hall, 610 Beacon Street. There will be BU and Boston Police officers and Scarlett Squad members available to help you. Parking is in the Questrom lot, 595 Commonwealth Avenue. You are going to love the newly renovated Myles Standish Hall.

    1. Good Afternoon Beth,

The Essex Street Garage & Lot will not be open during the weekend. Parking in the area will be available at the Agganis Arena Garage, 925 Commonwealth Avenue. If you require overnight parking during these days, that will be available at the Langsam Garage, 278 Babcock Street, and the Warren Towers Garage, 700 Commonwealth Avenue.
