  1. I appreciate this fine article about Fr. Vincent. I’d like to add that Prof. John Hart was his first reader on the dissertation. There will be a memorial service at Boston University once it can be organized.

  2. With all due respect to the importance of a new BU Theater (plan), is the assassination of an alum who put his life at risk 8 times in defense of his exploited people and in protest of their genocide, doesn’t that deserve the top headline in BUToday?

  3. We, the STH community, are feeling the shock and pain of the death of Fr. Vincent. Many in our community have paid tribute to him through our internal networks. Thank you for providing the larger BU community the opportunity to know of this great man and his sacrificial love for the people of his country. We invite all to join us in praying for the family and friends of Fr. Vincent in these trying times.

  4. While I did not know Vincent well, we were friendly acquaintances who enjoyed conversing together over several years. He was intelligent, charming, courteous, & dedicated to his education & future work. Vincent gave his life for a cause that he believed in, & he will be missed.

African students are an integral part of BU’s African Studies Center & related programs, & often become dear friends. But for some at least, the realities of their home countries are beyond the ken of most Americans. Incidents such as this are tragic, but help us to remember that the world is more challenging & dangerous than we can imagine based on US experiences alone.

  5. a murder like his is always committed by those who do not want the truth to be known. May God embrace him and Jesus say “Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world…..”
Thank God for such courageous and dedicated people like him.

  6. Father Vincent visited our Parish of the Incarnation of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Melrose and Saugus, Ma. several times on weekends to say Mass while studying in Boston. A sweet and gentle priest who brought to life the tragedy’s of his homeland. A very learned priest. He takes the direct route to heaven like Bishop Oscar Romero May he rest in peace.

  7. Fr Vincent Machozi was a light in the indigenous community of Kitswamba village, Bithungwe Location, Bunyuka Groupment of Baashu Chiefdom in Beni Territory of R D Congo. It take decades to replace him. RIP dear cousin. We meet in heaven soon. Amen
