Coolidge Corner Arts Festival Returns Tomorrow
Event will coincide with first annual Brookline Porchfest
Searching for a new painting, sculpture, or piece of jewelry? Check out the 38th Annual Coolidge Corner Arts Festival tomorrow, Saturday, June 4, on the grounds of Brookline’s Devotion Elementary School and take in the work of more than 75 local and nationally recognized artists.
The free event features work by Boston-based photographer Susan Mara Bregman, from Red Nickel, New England jewelry designer Danielle Vaillancourt, from DaVine Jewelry, and local painter Cynthia Chapman, to name a few.
Each year the Coolidge Corner Arts Festival committee awards the Susan Lichter Jury Prize to an artist whose work exemplifies the highest level of art and craft and embodies the spirit of the festival’s former committee member. The winner of this year’s prize is local ceramist Elizabeth Benotti.
In addition to a diverse selection of art, the festival includes several food trucks courtesy of the Boston Food Truck Alliance and a wine and beer garden sponsored by Hive, a mobile full-service bar and lounge.
Local DJ Magic Mark will perform from noon to 6 p.m. This year’s arts festival coincides with the debut of the first annual Brookline Porchfest. More than 50 musicians will perform jazz, folk, blues, classical, indie, and other music genres from noon to 6 p.m. on porches all around Brookline. As part of Porchfest, members of the Brookline Music School’s jazz and rock ensembles will perform at the Arts Festival from 3 to 6 p.m. Note: In the event of rain, the Brookline Porchfest will be Saturday, June 11.
