  1. Congratulations to President Brown and the entire BU community! Boston University continues to strive for nothing short of excellence and perfection. Beyond impressive.

  2. While we are all pleased at BU’s deserved rise in the rankings, I have to ask why BU does not re-open SON? There is a definitive need for nursing schools and the quality of undergrads and grads would increase BU’s ranking.

    1. Agree….I got a great education at BUSON…. Instructors were excellent and was sorry to see school close… Was so impressed with women in my class, felt fortunate to go there…. Work as nurse anesthetist over 30 years…

  3. Congratulations to all!
Although PAL is closed, I did get my MBA & was a National Director of Materiel Management for a number of hospitals & nursing homes as well as acute care teaching hospitals. I am proud of my university. Keep up the good work!!!

  4. Gus, that is not a misprint. Northeastern has moved up significantly in rankings in the past 10 years, for whatever reason. I looked at their latest #s and their acceptance rate was actually lower than BU’s!

  5. Not to rain on the parade, but I think the real headline here is Northeastern University’s meteoric rise. Of course I’m thrilled with BU moving up 20 spots in the past decade, but in the same timeframe Northeastern has climbed over 120 spots to the point that we are now tied. And as Dave points out, it’s actually harder to get into NEU than BU now. Add to that the rise of other specialized schools (Emerson, Berklee, Wellesely, Olin, etc.), and BU’s place in the Boston’s academic landscape is still that of redheaded stepchild. It’s only a matter of time before we hear “safety school” chants coming not from Cambridge or Chestnut Hill, but from Huntington Avenue.

    1. You are right. NU deserves a lot of credit for raising themselves as they have. But they still lack a medical school, hospital complex, public health school, dental school, social work, hospitality, education, communication, theater, theology and the 2 year college of basic studies all available at BU. BU offers a much broader range of schools and programs and has a much larger research footprint because of its many schools and biomedical complex.
