Event Photographer Position

About the Position:

The Howard Thurman Center (HTC) is looking to hire two current Boston University students as event photographers for the 2023-24 academic year.

We seek creative and hard-working students with a keen eye for detail who enjoy capturing the attendees, happenings, environment, and moments of events.

Tasks include attending weekly events and taking photos and videos (with camera or mobile device) to be used for HTC’s social media channels, website, digital screens, and other platforms.

The students will work closely with the Assistant Director of Marketing and Communications in identifying events to cover that don’t conflict with the students’ class schedules. Student photographers are expected to submit the photos they take in a timely manner to the Assistant Director.

Qualifications:

  • Be a current BU student (all majors are welcome to apply)
  • Strong photography skills
  • A team player, detail-oriented, and excellent time management
  • Be personable, and feel comfortable capturing photos of events that may have 10 to 100 attendees
  • Keep up to date with the latest photography skills (and social media photography)

Students may use their own camera or mobile device to capture photos, but have the option to use the HTC’s in-house camera.

Hours are flexible and may vary depending on the number of events happening at the HTC in a given week. We expect student photographers to work anywhere from five to ten hours a week. Must be available to work on some evenings and weekends to cover events.
