Closing Repairs
Closing a repair in OOMPA is very easy and only takes a minute of your time. Once a repair has been completed we always enter a resolution. This is mainly taken care of by the technician working on the repair, but sometimes it might be the responsibility of someone at the counter.
If a client decides to come in and pick up their machine and they will not be returning it, we need to close the repair. It is best to note it in the repair notes and then see if the technician working on that repair is available to close it. If they are not available you can close this repair yourself.
To close a repair:
Simply enter the resolution in the “Repair Ownership and Completion” area. There are some predefined choices if any of them apply to the situation. It’s best to enter some sort of description of the resolution as well. After the resolution is entered make sure the “The Repair has been Fixed” checkbox is checked and “Save Repair”. This will change the repair to a fixed status.

Notice the resolution line is in blue. That is a quick visual way to tell the repair has been fixed.
Almost done!
If client owes money for the repair now would be a good time to get it. Please see POS section for more information.
Now that the repair status has changed to fixed and all money has been collected, the repair is still not closed yet. As a side note, please make sure all money is collected before giving the machine to the client. If it is a department machine and they will be paying by Requisition, we do not need the Req at the time of pickup, but do not close the repair if no Req has been submitted.
Closing the repair is the final step. Closing the repair is done at the time the unit is picked up by the client after it has been repaired. When the client comes to pick up the repaired machine verify the client is who they say they are from any ID. BU ID is preferred but not necessary. Once you hand them their machine back click on the “Machine Has been Removed from the Store” button as shown below.
That’s it. Good job!! Have another cookie!
