Student version of MS Windows no longer sold
The IT Help Center will no longer be selling the student priced version of Microsoft Windows. Microsoft has ended the Student Select Licensing program that it was a part of.
Key Information:
This does NOT affect our selling Microsoft Office for $39. That continues as before.
This does NOT affect BU departments getting Windows through the Enterprise Agreement. That continues as before.
From now on, students can purchase Windows through the Microsoft Student Store for $64 (license only, $15 for the optional media disc). The software from the store is licensed for students only, faculty and staff must look elsewhere for personal purchases of Windows. (And they may NOT download it from the Enterprise Agreement page for their personal computer.)

E-Commerce site for MS Office purchases temporarily down
The e-commerce site for personal software purchases, http://ithc.collegestoreonline.com/, is currently down. This site is managed by an outside company, Sequoia Retail Systems, who are addressing the issue. They will provide me with notification when the issue is resolved. In the meantime, please advise clients to retry their purchase later today. We are unable at this time to provide an ETA for resolution.
Sales URL and Apple discount
Adobe and Microsoft software is available for purchase by BU affiliates at the IT Help Center at significant discounts, but not everyone, like distant education students, can make it down to Kenmore Square to buy. So we have an e-commerce site.
The URL for this site has changed. It is now:
http://ithc.collegestoreonline.com/
We now have a friendly URL for BU's online Apple store:
www.bu.edu/tech/buapple
In the Recommended Systems section (link in the upper right), BU shoppers will find 6 MacBook Pro with AppleCare bundles with an additional $50 discount. This discount is why a log-in is required.
BU Law Mac users no longer need Windows
The Law school specific application Examsoft can now run natively on a Mac in OSX 10.5 and above. Previously BU Law Mac users were required to purchase and run Windows under Boot Camp. Please keep this in mind when consulting clients about software purchases.
