UPDATE: Blackboard Vista and Firefox 3.6.14
Firefox has released update 15 for their version 3.6 web browser. This appears to have resolved the issue of the Java error message appearing within Blackboard Vista on a Windows machine. The update doesn’t appear to have broken anything with a Mac OS X system accessing Blackboard Vista. If clients report the error listed below, please ask them to upgrade Firefox.

Firefox update 3.6.14 became available a couple of days ago. It may be the cause of a Java error message appearing while navigating within Blackboard Vista. I have two reports from Distance Education and I was able to replicate the issue. A Java pop-up error window can appear while navigating through Blackboard Vista.
If the student/faculty member clicks the OK button, the error window disappears and no other functionality seems to be affected. I have only seen this on Windows machines (XP and 7) so far with different Java versions so I’m fairly certain that the Firefox update is the cause.
I have contacted Blackboard and will follow-up with the results.
For now if anyone calls or submits a ticket, they can just click the OK button and continue with their work. Let them know that we have contacted the vendor and that we will follow-up with them with the results. Create a ticket for the call and assign it to me (rgiltrap).
