{"id":142913,"date":"2022-12-12T10:32:06","date_gmt":"2022-12-12T15:32:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/?p=142913"},"modified":"2022-12-12T10:32:06","modified_gmt":"2022-12-12T15:32:06","slug":"bu-wireless-to-eduroam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/2022\/12\/12\/bu-wireless-to-eduroam\/","title":{"rendered":"Transitioning BU Wireless Network to Eduroam: Early Adoption Ecouraged"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As part of our continuing effort to improve wireless service across campus, we will be transitioning our wireless network to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/infrastructure\/networks\/wireless\/eduroam\/\">eduroam<\/a>, a global roaming wireless service accessible on campus and at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eduroam.org\/where\/\">participating institutions<\/a>\u00a0around the world. The transition will improve wireless security while allowing BU to continue to support the growing number of devices on the campus Wi-Fi network.<\/p>\n<p><strong>WHAT DO I NEED TO DO?<\/strong><br \/>\nAs part of this initiative, we will retire the BU (802.1x) wireless network over Intersession. We are encouraging early adoption of eduroam and ask you to establish an eduroam connection on your devices by following these simple steps:<\/p>\n<ol style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\n<li>From your computer or device, select\u00a0<strong>eduroam<\/strong>\u00a0from your list of available wireless networks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Log in<\/strong>\u00a0to eduroam using your full BU email address (<em><a href=\"mailto:login@bu.edu\">login@bu.edu<\/a><\/em>) and BU (Kerberos) password.<\/li>\n<li>If prompted,\u00a0<strong>accept, and trust<\/strong>\u00a0the \u201cradius.bu.edu\u201d certificate for our server.<\/li>\n<li>Once you are connected to the eduroam network,\u00a0<strong>Delete or forget the \u201cBU (802.1x)\u201d network.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\nTo learn more about eduroam, please visit our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/infrastructure\/networks\/wireless\/eduroam\/\">TechWeb page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For help or assistance anytime, please contact the IT Help Center by sending an email to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:ithelp@bu.edu\">ithelp@bu.edu<\/a>\u00a0or calling\u00a0<a href=\"tel:617-353-4357\">617-353-HELP(4357)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thank you for working with us as we improve BU\u2019s wireless service.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As part of our continuing effort to improve wireless service across campus, we will be transitioning our wireless network to\u00a0eduroam, a global roaming wireless service accessible on campus and at\u00a0participating institutions\u00a0around the world.
