These changes will prepare the community for an upcoming meeting security change mandated by Zoom.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Require a password for all new scheduled meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All meetings scheduled on or after July 5th will require a password. Currently, passwords are enabled by default, but not required. As you schedule meetings this month, please ensure that they are password protected. This will be especially important for recurring meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Existing scheduled meetings will not be affected; however, you are strongly encouraged to password protect them. For more information on securing existing meetings, please see\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/conf\/online\/zoom\/getting-started\/securing-your-meetings\/#passwords\">Securing Your Meetings<\/a>\u00a0on TechWeb. Starting July 19th, Zoom will enable Waiting Rooms on any meetings without password protection.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Require a password for instant meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All instant meetings started with the \u201cNew Meeting\u201d button in the Zoom app or the \u201cHost a Meeting\u201d option on the Zoom website will be password protected. Participants can be invited or sent the one-click URL once the meeting starts, just as before. This change will not affect instant meetings that use your Personal Meeting ID (PMI); your PMI security settings will still be honored.<\/p>\n<p>As the world continues to operate remotely, Information Services &amp; Technology will continue working closely with Zoom to keep your meetings secure.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/contact\">IT Help Center<\/a>\u00a0is available for phone, email and remote support.
