Starting\u00a0May 30th<\/strong>, Zoom will require all meeting participants to\u00a0update their Zoom app to version 5.0 or higher. This required update is\u00a0part of a series of measures which will improve Zoom’s overall security, allowing them to transition to\u00a0stronger\u00a0encryption.<\/span><\/p>\n

To avoid interruptions\u00a0to\u00a0your classes or meetings,\u00a0we\u00a0encourage\u00a0you\u00a0to upgrade to Zoom 5.0 as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How can I update my Zoom app?<\/h3>\n

For mobile devices, please check the App Store<\/a> or Play Store<\/a> for available updates.<\/p>\n

To update the Zoom desktop client:<\/p>\n

  1. Sign in<\/a> to the Zoom desktop client<\/li>\n
  2. Click the profile menu (your picture or initials) at the upper right of the window<\/li>\n
  3. Click \u201cCheck for Updates\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    On some older versions of Zoom for macOS, “Check for Updates” can only be found in the “zoom.us” menu in your Apple menu bar.<\/p>\n

    What happens if I don\u2019t update by May 30th<\/sup>?<\/h3>\n

    The next time you attempt to join a meeting, you will be prompted to upgrade Zoom. In some cases, you will be offered the option to join the meeting from a web browser and upgrade later.<\/p>\n

    I use a Chromebook. Is there anything I need to do?<\/h3>\n

    No, Zoom has already updated their web and Chrome OS experiences to support their new encryption method.<\/p>\n

    How can I check which version of the Zoom app installed on my device?<\/h3>\n

    You can check the version of your Zoom app using the About Zoom screens<\/a>:<\/p>\n
