This required update is\u00a0part of a series of measures which will improve Zoom&#8217;s overall security, allowing them to transition to\u00a0stronger\u00a0encryption.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>To avoid interruptions\u00a0to\u00a0your classes or meetings,\u00a0we\u00a0encourage\u00a0you\u00a0to upgrade to Zoom 5.0 as soon as possible.\u00a0<\/span><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3>How can I update my Zoom app?<\/h3>\n<p>For mobile devices, please check the <a href=\"https:\/\/apps.apple.com\/us\/app\/zoom-cloud-meetings\/id546505307\">App Store<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/play.google.com\/store\/apps\/details?id=us.zoom.videomeetings&amp;hl=en_US\">Play Store<\/a> for available updates.<\/p>\n<p>To update the Zoom desktop client:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/conf\/online\/zoom\/getting-started\/signing-in-using-your-bu-login\/\">Sign in<\/a> to the Zoom desktop client<\/li>\n<li>Click the profile menu (your picture or initials) at the upper right of the window<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cCheck for Updates\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>On some older versions of Zoom for macOS, &#8220;Check for Updates&#8221; can only be found in the &#8220;zoom.us&#8221; menu in your Apple menu bar.<\/p>\n<p>For further assistance updating Zoom, please contact your local IT support group or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/contact\">IT Help Center<\/a>.<\/p>\n<h3>What happens if I don\u2019t update by May 30<sup>th<\/sup>?<\/h3>\n<p>The next time you attempt to join a meeting, you will be prompted to upgrade Zoom.
