Delete or replace old media files and change the originating links. <em>Pro Tip: Don&#8217;t publicize links to media files directly.<\/em> Put relevant links to your media files on a page, and widely <em>share the link to the page<\/em>. That way, you can always change the file links and keep the same &#8220;landing page&#8221; that points to your media files.<\/p>\n<p>Safe Redirect Manager allows Site Admins to send a\u00a0URL on your site to a custom destination. This gives you full control over what previously would have been a\u00a0request for a custom\u00a0URL. Before beginning the steps below, please request that the Safe Redirect Manager be enabled for your site. To set up a new redirect, simply follow the steps below:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>From your WordPress dashboard go to\u00a0Tools &gt; Safe Redirect Manager<\/li>\n<li>Click \u201cCreate Redirect Rule\u201d.<br \/>\n<a href=\"\/tech\/files\/2015\/09\/Safe_Redirect_Manager_\u2039_WPMU_\u2014_WordPress4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/tech\/files\/2015\/09\/Safe_Redirect_Manager_\u2039_WPMU_\u2014_WordPress4-636x421.png\" alt=\"Safe_Redirect_Manager_\u2039_WPMU_\u2014_WordPress\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-94335\" width=\"636\" height=\"421\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2015\/09\/Safe_Redirect_Manager_\u2039_WPMU_\u2014_WordPress4-636x421.png 636w, https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/files\/2015\/09\/Safe_Redirect_Manager_\u2039_WPMU_\u2014_WordPress4-1024x677.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 636px) 100vw, 636px\" \/><\/a><\/li>\n<li>On the next screen, in the &#8220;Redirect From&#8221; field <em>enter only the keyword you&#8217;d like to use<\/em> as a redirect\u00a0URL.\n<ul>\n<li>For example:\n<ul>\n<li>If you want a custom URL at\u00a0<strong>http:\/\/www.bu.edu\/mydepartment\/fallregistration\/<\/strong> then&#8230;<\/li>\n<li>Enter only the keyword\u00a0<b><span>fallregistration<\/span><\/b>\u00a0as the Redirect From.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Next, enter the full destination address of the redirect in the &#8220;Redirect To&#8221; field. Here you enter\u00a0the address of the page you want visitors to see. This can be a full URL with the &#8220;https:\/\/&#8221; at the beginning, or a relative URL that includes your site name.
