The settings outlined on this page may vary slightly across devices and versions, but these instructions should be generally applicable to all users of the iOS.<\/p>\n

Note: After you configure Exchange as described below, you might also want to get BU Mobile – BU\u2019s suite of applications for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad.<\/a><\/p>\n

Configuring the Mail client<\/strong>
\nYou can connect your device to the Exchange server by following these steps. You can also follow this video to set up email on an iOS device<\/a>.<\/p>\n

  1. Tap Settings.<\/strong><\/li>\n
  2. Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
    \n<\/strong>\"iphone_exchange_1\"<\/li>\n
  3. Tap Add Account.
    \n<\/strong>\"iphone_exchange_2\"<\/li>\n
  4. \u00a0Tap Microsoft Exchange.
    \n<\/strong>\"iphone_exchange_3\"<\/li>\n
  5. Fill in the following information\n
      \n
    • Email <\/strong>is your complete email address,<\/strong> which is\u00a0login@bu.edu<\/strong><\/em> (where login <\/em>is your BU login name).<\/li>\n
    • Password <\/strong>is your Kerberos password.<\/li>\n
    • Description<\/strong> is the name your Exchange account will have on your device, and will be displayed in a list if you have more than one email account configured.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Tap Next<\/strong> to continue.<\/li>\n
    • Tap Save<\/b>.
      \nYour device will connect to the Exchange server with the information you have entered. It will take a few minutes to synchronize your device and the Exchange server. When it’s done, your most recent email, calendar items, reminders and Exchange Contacts will be viewable on your device.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      The next step is to adjust a few settings for your Exchange account.<\/p>\n

      1. Tap\u00a0the account you just created to see the Exchange <\/strong>settings\u00a0page. Make sure the switches for Mail<\/strong>,\u00a0Contacts,<\/strong> Calendars, <\/strong>and Reminders<\/strong> are switched ON<\/strong> or OFF<\/strong>, depending on your preference.

      2. Then click the Mail Days to Sync<\/strong> button. Tap one of the options, depending on your preferences. Choosing No Limit<\/strong> is not recommended and 1 Month<\/strong> is the maximum.

        Configuring the Microsoft Outlook App<\/strong>
        \nYou can connect the Microsoft Outlook app to your Exchange account by following these steps.<\/p>\n

        1. Once the application is open, tap Add an Account<\/strong>.

        2. Tap the Exchange icon.

        3. Enter your @bu.edu email address<\/strong>, password<\/strong>, and description<\/strong> for the account.

        4. Once the account has been added, you can configure various options by tapping the Settings<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n
        5. Toggle the Focused Inbox<\/strong> on or off.
