Use it when possible when you have an electronic version of the document.<\/p>\n<p>Windows users can create PDFs using <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/support\/purchase\/personal\/sales\/adobestudentlicensing\/\">Adobe Acrobat<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pdf995.com\/\">pdf 995<\/a>. In addition to Acrobat, Mac users can create PDFs natively by selecting &#8220;Save As &#8230;&#8221; and then selecting the PDF option for most Mac apps.<\/p>\n<p><strong>NOTE that the \u201cPrint as PDF\u201d option rarely yields a document that meets accessibility requirements.<\/strong> Use \u201cSave As PDF\u201d or \u201cExport\u201d options in the authoring software.<\/p>\n<h2>On-line<\/h2>\n<p>You can also use a search engine to find websites that offer PDF creation as a service &#8211; you upload a scanned document and they will email back the PDF version. Take care to use reputable sites and follow the University&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/policies\/data-protection-standards\/\">Data Protection Standards<\/a> for any documents uploaded to a third-party service provider.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are several ways to create PDF files, as described below.
