{"id":7191,"date":"2009-10-15T14:02:06","date_gmt":"2009-10-15T18:02:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/?page_id=7191"},"modified":"2017-11-13T11:45:46","modified_gmt":"2017-11-13T16:45:46","slug":"students","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.bu.edu\/tech\/services\/cccs\/phone\/linesequip\/order\/students\/","title":{"rendered":"Local Service for Students"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are <a href=\"#options\">four different options<\/a> available to students for local telephone service.\u00a0 After you decide which plan works best for you, please <strong>contact Verizon at 888-339-7306<\/strong> to sign up for service.\u00a0 In addition, if you are interested in making outgoing<strong> long distance calls,<\/strong> you will also need to sign up for a long distance plan with Paetec by visiting\u00a0the\u00a0Communication Services\u00a0office at 111 Cummington Mall during regular business hours and presenting your Boston University ID.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Before leaving campus or if you are moving within residence halls,<\/strong> be sure to disconnect your local service by calling Verizon at 888-339-7306.<\/p>\n<h2><a name=\"options\"><\/a>Service Options<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Measured Service Option 1:<\/strong> Cost per month: $12.93*<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All calls are charged on a per message and per minute basis as <a href=\"#zones\">Zone 1 and Zone 2 <\/a>calls. Calls to Zone 1 and Zone 2 locations cost $0.01 for the first minute and $0.016 for each additional minute. Unlimited calling within the BU Campus is included.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Measured Service Option 2:<\/strong> Cost per month: \u00a0$13.43*<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Like Measured Service Option 1, but provides security for your line by requiring your Paetec PBN to be entered for every call.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Contiguous Service: <\/strong>Cost per month: \u00a0$20.45*<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Unlimited calling to Cambridge, Roxbury, South Boston, Brighton, Allston, Brookline, Charlestown, East Boston, and Boston Central.<\/li>\n<li>Calls to other Metropolitan Boston Area exchanges are billed as <a href=\"#zones\">Zone 1 and Zone 2 <\/a>calls.
