Audience response systems are used in higher education for promoting interactivity, gathering feedback, and assessing students’ understanding of core lecture concepts.\u00a0 Some instructors use them to determine class attendance and class participation as well.<\/p>\n

Audience response systems are ideal for courses with 60 or more students, as its often hard to take attendance, perform knowledge checks, or determine if a concept is understood in a large class format.<\/p>\n

Boston University currently has two endorsed platforms for use: TopHat and PointSolutions (formerly TurningPoint).<\/p>\n

Both platforms are fee-for-use, and require students to purchase a software license to use the product.<\/p>\n
